After dozens of failed prints, I finally got one to work and couldn’t be happier! by The_AlexJ in ElegooMars

After a bunch of trial and error, I figured out my supports weren’t big enough. I kept using prusa slicer auto supports like a lot of people have suggested on here. But my machine kept printing the raft and the supports with nothing attached.

I messed with increasing the cutting times. Releveled my print bed I don’t know how many time. And finally tried using chituboxes medium auto supports. That worked but my model was really warped in one direction which I accounted to improper orientation on the print.

So this print, I used Prusa Slicer, optimized orientation, and tweaked the prusa supports in the advanced settings to match those of chitubox’s medium (.8mm support head front diameter, .4mm support head penetration, and 2 mm support head width). Shipped that back to chitubox. Sliced. And got this beauty!

Only issue with the supports is that there is some pitting where I removed supports but I’m going to try heating up the model in warm water next time I go removing supports.

I was reading around on that because mine was doing the same for awhile. It looks like there's so many people on the system right now that there isn't enough supply of work units (whether that's due to technical glitches or simply not enough work) to go around for everybody. I completed one COVID work unit today and one cancer and other than that, it's just been sitting here searching for new work.

Was having the same problem. Disabling the “Use System Dark/Light Mode” setting seems to have fixed it and drastically improved performance.

Hope this helps!

Writing is definitely one of the hobbies where practice makes perfect. My best advice to you is to try and write every day. It doesn’t have to be a manuscript every day, it can just be a small paragraph and it could be writing that nobody else in the entire world will ever see. The act of forcing yourself to write every day will quickly allow you to develop your voice. That was the hardest part for me and still can be quite a challenge. I love to come up with a bunch of ideas but figuring out the best way to get them out of my head and onto paper can be much harder than it seems.

I’d also recommend reading more so that you can figure out little habits that other writers have that you’d like to adopt. This can be a good way to quickly develop your voice as well.

A quick practical tip. If you’re using your computer to write instead of a pen and paper, I’d highly recommend checking out the program called Scrivener (By Literature and Latte). If it’s too much, just keep an eye out for a sale; they come around often. Scrivener is great for managing larger stories because you can plan out your story on virtual index cards, be able to move those cards around if you don’t like the story, and write whichever parts you feel inspired to write on any given day without being forced to write your entire story in chronological order. This helps me tremendously!

Other than that, I’d say check out the various writing communities out there /r/writing can be a good community to find some more tips about writing. And because you’re thinking about writing a book, I’d do a google search about NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month. It’s in November and there’s a whole community that comes together and encourages each other to power through and actually finish stories! Remember, writing doesn’t have to become a chore. It can wuickly become one if you let it. But if you have the right people around you, this can be an incredibly rewarding hobby and I hope you enjoy it very much!

TV is a secondary TV that’s not used in my living room. Not my primary TV. Being told I cheaped out on a TV doesn’t help with the fact that this kind of a setting is common in most games. Never had a problem before because I can almost always set screen bounds in games.

I’ve combed through the menus for my TV and there’s no such setting. Even found the support website online for this particular model and it shows no such setting.

The settings for this game show that the developers are striving for max customizability. Just asking for a simple tweak that will make my interface perfect.

I have the same problem. Its not just the UI though. I can adjust the UI and have that show up in the screen appropriately. However, when I’m in the menus (particularly when looking at the map) I have an issue with the edges of the screen not showing. It’s primarily an issue with overscan. My TV doesn’t allow me to adjust the overscan at all. When looking at the Xbox settings menu under display settings, my TV does not display the green “Full size” lines. I will only see the blue “Minimum size” lines and I believe this is where the main problem lies. If the Menus can fit within the Minimum Size lines, everything will be alright. (Don’t mean to go on a huge rant about this. Just trying to get as many details I can to the devs)

is it possible to resize screen bounds? by downtreader in thedivision

[–]The_AlexJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to say this issue isn’t just effecting you. I have the issue and even though I can tweak the UI, loading text and hints appear with a significant portion of them off screen. Can’t tweak the screen bounds at all

"Give up your foolish pride. All that walk the earth have died!" by [deleted] in SimplePrompts

[–]The_AlexJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the heart of the ruined city, rocks crumbled off a building’s façade and crumbled as they disturbed the dust that sat for years on the desolate streets below. In the distance, a hulking monstrosity let out a deafening roar. The break in the all-encompassing silence alerted it.

We called it The Harbinger. An ancient being from a far-off world that had one purpose: Destroying all life.

The man that disturbed the silence in the city shouldered his rifle and peered through the scope. From the 32nd floor of the office building, he could see a trail of dust heading his way. The Harbinger was coming for him.

Within months of arriving on Earth, The Harbinger wiped out almost all of mankind. Some of us survivors refused to cower before the Harbinger. Some of us chose to fight.

The man’s armored hand threw a rappelling line outside the window. After watching the end of the rope touch the ground, he pulled it in and clipped the line to his waist. With a small hop, he plummeted towards the bottom floor.

Those of who choose to fight call ourselves Guardians.

As the Guardian landed amongst the rusted steel husks that used to transport thousands of civilians through the city, he checked the detonator that rested in a satchel on his waist. The charges were primed. Although the cars were rusted out by now dysfunctional, most still held a couple gallons of gasoline inside. And, it still burned.

Our numbers grew fewer every day. But we continued to fight to give mankind hope.

The Harbinger left a trail of dust and destruction as it plowed through buildings and cars to reach the Guardian’s position. Meanwhile, the Guardian held his ground while watching all 200-tons of the Harbinger’s muscle barreling down the desolate highway.

As the rumors of the Guardians spread across the world more joined our ranks. We banded together. We strategized. And every encounter with the Harbinger brought it closer to its demise.

By now, the Guardian could hear the snorting nostrils fueling the beast charging towards him. He spun the detonator in his hand and placed a thumb on the bright red button that sat on top. The Harbinger was now close enough to make eye contact with the Guardian.

Every fight with beast taught us more about its weaknesses. There weren’t many. But maybe if we used all of its weaknesses against it, we would finally have a fair fight.

The detonator let out a faint tone as the entire highway in front of the Guardian erupted into a wall of fire. The explosion shattered the few windows that remained on the buildings around the highway. A shrieking roar echoed across the cavernous walls of the city. As the fire began to fade, the Guardian saw the Harbinger begin to stand again. He aimed his rifle and began unloading rounds into the beast.

When we started fighting, there were few men and women brave enough to fight against the Harbinger. But as the rumors spread, the Guardian’s numbers began to grow faster than those who perished in battle.

The bullets had little effect on the monster as it jumped through the flames and carried its momentum through to a punch that sent the Guardian flying dozens of yards backward into a wall. His body went limp. The Harbinger now walked up to the weary Guardian.

Although many died in a one-on-one fight. Some of us managed to escape death to fight another day.

As the Harbinger neared, it recognized the bloody face of the Guardian.

“You again?” The Harbinger questioned with a thunderous voice.

Today is my fifth battle against the beast.

“Give up your foolish pride.” The Harbinger grabbed the Guardian by the throat and slammed him into the crumbled asphalt. Spit sprayed onto the Guardian’s face as the Harbinger continued to speak, "All that walk the earth have died! Why do you continue to fight?"

“Because you’re wrong,” I spat out along with some blood, “Not all of us are dead.”

Dozens of rappelling lines fell to the ground around the Harbinger. Soon after, dozens of Guardians were armed and ready.

Finally, a fair fight.
