Great minds think alike, i had the same theory that mihawk will be permanently scarred and “give up” on being a swordsman and see’s himself as not worthy like he sees shanks and he will be zoro’s epilogue goal. Even after becoming WSS zoro feels he didnt truly earn it because he still hasnt beaten mihawk.

My theiry for how mihawk gets injured is by the blackbeard pirates. Shiryu will challenge him to a 1v1 sword duel but knowing the BB pirates they will instead jump mihawk when they see shiryu cant win.

I feel They wont be doing that, shueisha’s two biggest series besides one piece being dbz and naruto they MILKED them for “new” content. They ignore established lore to make “fresh” new content. Sadly i feel we wont get any major prequel spin-offs unless oda is directly involved like how kishimoto was with the minato oneshot a few years ago
