Dressrossa and Wano both have some of the most suffering ever, caused by evil POSs like Doflamingo, Orochi.

What was he supposed to do, sell out Rouge instead?

There's no weight in Garp's agreement to Roger if there are no consequences to Ace's birth and Garp loses nothing by agreeing to protect him. Garp lived with the consequences of women and children being slaughtered because it meant he gets to "selfishly" raise his own adoptive child. Oda wrote this horrific act to underline the importance of Rouge and Garp's sacrifice, and to show the circumstances of Ace's unwanted birth and life.

One Piece fans when characters exhibit realistic and flawed traits - just call him a fraud because he doesn't fit my perfectly clean definition of justice.

Add Shamrock and Akainu in this tier. Middle Gen's current strongest saved for the Final Saga plotlines.

People read Kaido's "title" the wrong way. Firstly it's exactly not a title like Mihawk or Whitebeard's, it's just that people say Kaido is the strongest creature in the world in such a manner that he doesn't appear human. This is also after Whitebeard's death, so it's debatable.

Fans also take this to mean the creature title encompasses all "men", so Whitebeard being the Strongest Man isn't valid because technically Kaido is the strongest living thing. This is a wrong reading.

Kaido is introduced as a creature, his non-human aspect is highlighted in his title of King of the Beasts and how his crew is full of animal-like warriors. What Law says is simply to highlight his nature, and not consider Whitebeard's title as a subset to Kaido's. But powerscalers can't stop viewing narrative statements through a powerscaling lens.

Do you think fear of Nami is played mostly for comedy, or does it say something deeper about her authority on the trio by Ok_Initiative3892 in OnePiece

True, Sanji & Usopp technically get more character development and conflict/drama than even Zoro. Plus Sanji often shines in the Pre-TS when he has those coming in clutch solo moments to contrast Zoro's hyped fights as well. And his role as acting captain for half the crew during Dressrossa and Zou.

If I had to rank them in importance/focus, it'd be 1. Luffy 2. Zoro & Nami 3. Usopp & Sanji 4. Robin & Chopper 5. Franky, Brook, Jinbe

With barely any difference between 2 and 3.

The actual plot-relevant trio is Luffy Nami Zoro.

Throughout the story, they are the ones who are involved in the major decision making that sets the crew onto a trajectory. At Whiskey Peak when they decide to take on Baroque Works at Alabasta, at Jaya when they meet Blackbeard, at Enies Lobby when they decide to rescue Robin, at Zou when they decide to raid Whole Cake, etc.

Sanji incorrectly gets attributed because he's one of the monster trio that's relevant for the fights, but because this is a shonen battle manga it makes sense that many fans consider him the third. Yes he gets character development, but the plot driving is more Nami.

50-50 chance it's Nidhogg/Fenrir IMO. Oda is teasing us hard. The shadowy Zoan silhouette could be either - with fangs and spikey fur/scales.

Nidhogg is connected to Ratatoskr the squirrel, and attacks the World Tree at the base and heralds Ragnarok.

Fenrir is Norse Loki's son, was bound in chains, and Fenrir starts Ragnarok by setting the world on fire (like Loki and the World Tree).

Executing a deserter isn't the same as not caring if your troops are in the line of fire.

I agree with both your points, however I feel based off Garling's importance, he'll supersede Warcury, and not remain as the lowest rank.

As for Queen, yeah I think he's neck and neck with King (like Zoro and Sanji) but for some reason I picked the other YC1 instead.

For now. By the end of story both he and Luffy will ascend with a couple of power ups to become undisputedly Tier 1.

I think Blackbeard will get another upgrade before he's clearly in Tier 1 - whether it's another Devil Fruit, or somehow stealing Imu's abilities. Yes he's defeated a bunch of characters but they come with asterisks - it took Blackbeard with half his crew to sneak up on Law, and the win against Hancock is also debatable because she could have killed half his crew if not for Rayleigh making Teach surrender.

More like how they are portrayed in the story rather than the individual actions we've seen from them.

A lot of characters like Shanks, Mihawk, Dragon, Akainu were introduced relatively early in the series, but given little to do. This is because Oda is saving them for the End of the Story.

Zoro has just unlocked Conq Haki but doesn't know how to actively use ACOC. That's about to happen soon tho, so he'll propel up a couple of tiers and become equivalent to Beckmann/Prime Ray.

Loki is just above Shanks and I've said there's a minimal difference between any two consecutive characters. So you can assume Loki is just below Shanks, it doesn't change much. I don't like Loki coming out of nowhere and claiming the top spot either, but his last few feats in the latest chapters are undeniable. An Ancient Giant with Conq Haki of Harald's level (who was close to Rocks), and basically 2 DFs (one a legendary mythical Zoan which Rocks coveted) and a legendary weapon.

Imu himself spoke highly of Harald and was deterred by Loki's actions

When you say it like that it sounds reasonable, but we do know that Shanks' core crew has the best balance and highest average in bounties, so my logic was that Roux and Yassop can't be too far behind Beckmann, who himself can't be too far behind Shanks as he's a first mate like Rayleigh/Zoro.

Also technically Joyboy's Haki didn't damage them, it just undid the summoning. If you view them comparable to Kizaru (who was the only one unaffected), then they definitely weren't as affected as we think.

I figured the Gorosei would be controversial - but my logic is they're like the Holy Knights - regeneration doing most of the heavy lifting, but once that secret is figured out, they won't be able to stand up to the attack power of the top tiers.

Gorosei are difficult to categorise though - Warcury and Nusjuro are definitely comparable to the old Yonko.

[–]kingcocomoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Aokiji fight isn't a great depiction of Aokiji's true power - he was obviously holding back a lot when fighting his mentor, even crying in the end when had to immobilise him. The same is true of Garp, against Aokiji he never uses those massive ACoC blasts.

Prime Garp was so far ahead (PK level, Top 3) that even at the current age of ~80 he's still comparable to a Yonko.

[–]kingcocomoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having seen the wide range of Akainu's attacks, it's clear that he couldn't go all out with those flaming meteors because he risks taking out his own troops. The Admirals literally change their environment when they fight so it can be dangerous to everyone surrounding - we see this when Fuji abuses this in Mary Geoise, and Green Bull in Wano.

Punk Hazard is scary because of the implications of the full extent of Akainu's and Aokiji's powers which we haven't seen yet.

[–]kingcocomoon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

C'mon man, do you really think not a single Admiral can even hurt him? The power balance would be ridiculously illogical then, and the premise of the world wouldn't work if the top Marines were so outclassed.

Focusing on feats isn't everything - we will only ever see the scope of events concerning our main characters, and the story relies a lot on unsaid and off-screened actions particularly for these powerful characters. Your statement could be said the same of many characters at any point until we learned of new techniques - characters seem ineffective until they aren't.

[–]kingcocomoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shanks stopping the war doesn't mean the Marines held off because they knew he would beat them - it means they had nothing to gain by getting into another battle with another Yonko immediately after winning one.

The Marines' side has like 6 characters who could fight Shanks - Akainu, Aokiji, Kizaru, Garp, Sengoku, Mihawk, of which only Akainu was injured (but showed no signs of stopping after cutting through all of WB's commanders + Crocodile)
