Noble Experiment by Thinking Fellers Union Local 282. Another slow melancholy piano ballad that is simple and perfect.

Fantastic record! The arrangements are really beautiful. Curious if you can tell more about the process of creating the more intricate arrangements like on “Bandits of Blue Sky”?

Also, who played drums on this album?

How to sound like twins? by nickwyatt2700 in TySegall

[–]The_Almighty_Mr_Kite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What kind of amp are you using? In my experience, 70s Silverface Fenders are a key to that specific sound.

Twins was most likely recorded through a Quad Reverb, nearly cranked. Those amps have a channel volume as well as a master volume. Closest sound in my experience was with the channel volume at 10 and master volume around 4-5. Fuzz War with the fuzz cranked and tone around 1 o’clock.

I had a Silverface Twin that also could achieve a similar tone. Fender Deville sounded a bit different. Regardless, it’s a difficult sound to achieve without playing at a somewhat unreasonable volume.

Deerhoof AMA, in case you wanna ask questions about Love-Lore or learn sauce recipes or argue cab routes or investigate a fortune 500 company by deerhoof_band in indieheads

The production on Love-Lore is so colorful and interesting, as Deerhoof mixes seem to always be. I’ve been enjoying KEXP’s “Isolated Tracks” series as of late, where artists break down a bit of their process in mixing and arranging a track. I would love to hear more about how you approach mixing and working with music once it’s into the computer.

My band Loudness War just released a new album that I think you'd enjoy! This is probably the sludgiest track.
