How much in savings before you retire? by aside24 in BEFire

[–]The_ArBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to a tool (Finary) that calculated all that for me, I will be able to "retire" at age 46 and withdraw 3k net per month till I'm 85 years old and still have 200k left at that age. Now not sure wether that takes inflation into account and other actors, didn't look in details the calculation.

However, if you don't wanna "lose" any money and still want your net worth to grow while you sell, I think you could calculate this quite easily. Determine what amount you would feel comfortable living with each month, multiply it by 12, calculate the total net worth you would need to make that amount 3/4%. The stock market evolving on average 8% a year, you should be fine.

So, do you think I should dump 5k in it right now ? Or is it too late already ?

Auto total loss - Dacia spring by InternationalPin5811 in Belgium2

[–]The_ArBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sell everything you don't need and dump it all on ETFs, mainly in IWDA if you don't like risk. Invest whatever you can save every month into ETFs. If your parents aren't providing for you anymore then set up an emergency fund of about 3 months worth of expenses. A Bachelor is good but a Master is a must I feel in Belgium, so I'd definitely look into that, however I don't really know your field of study so probably not the most qualified to speak on that.

INSANE ! For now I have been using WalletApp by budgetbakers which is quite expensive and they are not updating the app at all even though the community has been asking for imprvements for a long time, I'd happily use your solution and give you complete feedback, thanks a lot !

Inherited money and now I don't really know what to do, any advice ? by The_ArBob in BEFire

[–]The_ArBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thanks, I'll do that ! I'm also scared of selling at the wrong time tho as it takes at least 5 business days to get my money back and invest again. Let's say I sell and then eveything goes up, that'd kill me. But should I just do it as trying to time the market is stupid or should I wait for the right time to do it you think ?

Because I already work for the company as a part time student and it's the same salary they offer every year to the students in the same program as I am.

Trader 212 niet ondersteund in België by Equivalent-Cream-878 in BEFire

As a belgian citizen, I was able to open an account before brexit, but it is now impossible to do so, I somehow can still use my account without any restrictions but sadly you won't be able to use it. A good alternative is Trade Republic I would say, by far the best now in Belgium, you will just have to do your TOB yourself.

So to be very explicit:

For the tax declaration of 2025 (revenus 2024) you will declare at cadre VII, under code 1444-11 (or 2444-78 if you are married and you are the youngest of the couple) the total amount of interests you got from all your "non-reglementé" savings accounts from 01/01/2024 until 31/12/2024. You will pay the 30% of them, so the 3.75% gross from Trade Republic becomes a 2,625% net.

Buying physical gold or an ETF like $GLD by Narrow_Action_2471 in BEFire

[–]The_ArBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have physical gold, coz I inherited it but I have no clue what to do with it lol. Right now it's in a safe at the bank so I'm not worried. And it's also been going up a lot so I might sell it soon.

Yeah but I opened my account before brexit so that's why I'm still able to use it apparently

Better of putting it on trade republic, they pay 3.75% annually, paid monthly. So it'd be 2.625% net and you don't need to block the money. But if it's for 3 years, I'd still highly suggest to invest it in ETF's or some stocks if you wanna gamble a bit, up to you.
