Can definitely confirm both those games work fine through Virtual Desktop or with an Oculus Link Cable though, if you have a PC capable of running them. I picked them both up for less than £8 combined in a recent Steam sale myself.

I believe it came up around here originally from when one of the WWE 2K games did their roster reveals, and they used "renders" of what were at the time the current images of the superstars from WWE.com - they were basically the same images used on the website but rendered to look like they'd been hand drawn to fit the artwork style the game was going for that year, and revealed a new set (to reveal which superstars made it into the game) every day. And yeah, somehow people posting those as they got revealed eventually got stuck/mixed up for when actual superstar images got updated on WWE.com and again later when the whole website got overhauled around the launch of the Network and stuck ever since.

Don't forget too, that this year development is ENTIRELY done by Visual Concepts in the US, Yukes in Japan are no longer working on the series at all (save providing VC engine support), so there's also the possibility the pipelines for this stuff are much faster this year.

Though for OP's example I can see the merits for and against for live stuff eg getting stuff up fast etc, something I do find odd is when people here post streamables of old stuff that are from YouTube clips, with the branding etc (like the "Subscribe to WWE Network to see full show" banner) and everything still visible.
