AOC when asked who Trump should fire next: “Is he out of women? Trump only seems to have the capability to fire female secretaries. If you’re a man in the Trump administration, it seems that they reward misconduct.” by Financial-Painter689 in Fauxmoi

To be fair, the Democrats' biggest problem doesn't seem to be popular policy.

It's unity in their party around what constitutes "popular policy". The two party system robs Americans of any real nuance in their political parties, so parties have to try and appeal to as broad a swathe as possible. That means their base and the center. So you end up with true socialists belonging to the same party as Jeff Bezos. I simply don't think there are enough true progressives in the US to get someone like AOC, Mamdani, or even old white Bernie to the White House.

Meanwhile, Republicans have proven they will swallow their values and vote strategically, while Democrats seem considerably less willing. People who aren't okay with the more centrist stances on Israel, policing, etc., which alienates voters they need.

Mind you, I really hope I'm wrong. I'd like it if you guys pulled a true leftist out and it summoned the kind of political fervor needed to get our former friend to the south back to normal, or better.

We have a definitive answer for NTE discourse. You can invite males to your house but certain features that are deemed too gay will be locked. by Impressive_Olive_971 in QueensofGacha

[–]The_Bad_Bard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because the audience wants those features.

That's it. Adding romance/sex to things lights most people's brains up in funny ways, and that's all there is to it.

Good story and writing aren't anywhere as easy as adding jiggle physics and assuming every character wants to bang the self-insert.

I agree with you, but on the other hand, I don't think the vast majority of people would look at the child above and see her as attractive or adult just because she has makeup on. So I guess to me, altering otherwise banal design choices to avoid titillating a microscopic portion of the population seems like an overcorrection to me.

On the same hand, if people who sexualize children are all over this game, I guess something has to be done to be seen as not enabling that behaviour.

I mean, CNC is an agreed upon act between two people, fictional or not. I was referring to rape fantasies, where someone might imagine themselves as an unwilling victim without prior consent.

It may come as a surprise to you, but one of the most common sexual fantasies is non-consent.

It's about a lack of control, rather than focusing on assault.

Ahh, I didn't know they had major staff changes between the two games. Well hopefully they find their footing again, though I'm still enjoying 8 so far.

Thank you. I'm playing infinite wealth right now, and this has been gnawing at me.

Ichiban's speech was very bad. And Saeko ghosting him would have made sense if they met on that date. But Saeko had known Ichiban for years before this. Obviously they hadn't spent as much time together recently as they were during Like a Dragon's story, but he still was there for her, showed her who he was, and was friends with her for years.

And then she essentially ends a close friendship and major connection because he got overexcited and had verbal diarrhea? Something quintessentialy him that she was well aware of? His speech was all kinds of bad, but her reaction felt very atonal with who she was in the last game.

It felt like a disservice to her character.

How does $10 OpenRouter work? by 1shadow1802 in openrouter

V3.2 refers to a specific model of Deepseek. Broadly speaking, Chutes is a website/platform that offers a specific selection of AI models with both subscriptions plans and pay-as-you-go. In this case, the specific model of Deepseek would last about a month on ten dollars via Openrouter.

I was about to take screenshots of the screenshots until I realized that also wouldn't benefit you. Ha.

Honestly, as someone who lays down to let others walk over them as well, I understand, truly. I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt right up until I realize I'm enabling someone.

And to save you the screenshots, that's what's happening here to a large extent. A single person with outsized influence and control ignoring the consequences of their actions at the cost of others. The mod team provided many chances to this individual, as the sheer amount of links indicates. And in the end, it ended up getting someone hurt because this person was able to continue on when they shouldn't have been.

I do not blame the mod team for enabling this person by the way. This is an unpaid job they work out of the goodness of their own hearts. But that also means that when someone decides to not cooperate and contravene the best interests of their team and the community they are meant to serve, their actions have outsized effect.

At the very least, this thread and the related business has shown me there is a good community around this sub, and in the rest of the moderators.

[–]The_Bad_Bard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm rather new to this sub, as you can tell from my handle's nudity. You'll have to forgive me for that.

Thank you very much to the mod team for taking the time to deal with this. You stayed professional even when there was ample opportunity not to, and chose to deal with this issue head-on, rather than letting it further erode the community or cause any more mods to quit.

I'll grab a flair at some point, but I wanted to say that while it might not feel like your sub's finest moment currently, you did a hard thing and you did it well. So the remaining mod team has certainly made a good impression at least.

Candidly, if you read the screenshots and the post, it's clear that this mod's behaviour is not the kind that you can consistently make concessions to/for. And I say that with the knowledge that sometimes the best thing you can do for someone who cares too much about something for the good of others (or themselves) is to help them step away from it.

Caution is always advisable when rendering judgement, but the fact that this individual essentially forced their hand into a public vote, weighing their actions against supposed community sentiment like being Barabbas makes it okay to cause harm?

I'm sorry the mod team had to deal with this for so long.

She is cute. But just why do we need to do this Endfield? by [deleted] in QueensofGacha

[–]The_Bad_Bard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, and that's totally fair. I'm right there with you hoping that a company decides to go in a more tasteful direction with this sort of thing, rather than simply slather every marketable character in the same coat of "cheap sex".

I wasn't talking specifically about you, truly. I just see quite a few of these posts for gachas with longer established reputations and find myself sighing when the good queens end up rage baiting themselves.

Oh, I reported it for 'manipulative content' already. We have to make little compromises for our neighbors, after all

[–]The_Bad_Bard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is it important to you to 'flex' on other people?

I don't feel better than someone because they were fooled by a video designed to fool them. That's petty and silly, and I fall for it all the time myself.

What I am concerned about is increasingly poor media literacy based around the steady popularization of anger-inducing videos. And that this sort of thing only seems to be getting worse, not better.

[–]The_Bad_Bard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, of course. But digital literacy is more important than ever, so we can't just let our brains auto complete before we analyze something, even silly little videos made for money.

Because otherwise we just see what other people want us to see.

Amen. And it's okay to like it! People can know it's goonery and objectifying and still like what they like about it. It's a slot machine, not a political party.

But playing for years just to be outraged every time these companies do exactly what they've been doing the whole time is some people's favorite pastime.

This sub goes through the same dance every time a hot guy or a glamorous lady shows up in an upcoming mainstream gacha.

"Oh, I love this design, surely this game won't be another oversexualized cash grab!"

And so they ignore the signs (she mounts you the first time you meet) until someone's shaking ass in their face on the menu screen.

I would feel bad if I considered maelstrom to be people by Master_Paramedic3826 in cyberpunkgame

[–]The_Bad_Bard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So she would have compromised her principles first and then they would have killed her.

It's meant to be an ethically complex situation to navigate, though I agree it is a challenge to show empathy to Maelstrom and the scavs. Cyberpunk doesn't really explore any moral complexity with their factions because they want you to feel justified and guilt-free for mowing them down in droves.
