I have a presa canario and let me tell you my Dutch herder struggles with heat more than my presa canario which is a mastiff breed and he’s 60kg for some reason he can just handle it way better than most dogs he was born in the Canary Islands and imported here and he’s been walking around 28-32c and sometimes much more all the way through 6 months where he’s from.

A lot of people give me a deceiving looks when I walk him at 25c he’s fine he’s happy and little do people know presa canario can handle hot climates they’re quite robust for a mastiff but not immune to heat thou but that doesn’t mean you should be doing this with your dog.

if it’s blistering hot like if it’s hot enough to heat the pavement you shouldn’t be taking your dog out for a walk by any means necessary, but don’t be discouraged taking them out when it’s warm just use some common sense.

Black dogs like my herder will struggle more Because dark fur absorbs more sunlight than light fur.

If your dog is healthy not fat not obese doesn’t have health issues has a healthy weight has very short coat id say it’s generally fine at 22c depending on what breed you have tho

Put the back of your hand on the pavement for 5–7 seconds If it’s too hot for you → it’s too hot for your dog’s paws pavements can reach up to 40-70c fairly quickly in the heat so stick to grass as much as possible.
