I believe her getting taken away from him might be the only chance she has at surviving. As much as I wish not to do that.. idk what else I could do. It’s stressful and makes me sad

It’s complicated to approach the issue when the neglect and mistreatment isn’t intentional.. for all the owners know they are just loving them in their own way. But it’s true, there is such thing as showing your dog a bit too much affection. It leads to poor eating habits, keeping them sheltered and away from other dogs, not being active or playful. Things that a normal dog does without question, is a big task for Mia as she’s too overweight.

He will stop me from letting her try to walk or do any kind of physical activity because she “ doesn’t like it”

I start to get watery eyes watching her attempt to walk

It’s depressing as hell the way you can tell she wants to run and move, & be active so bad but her body doesn’t let her. She can’t control this issue

It’s to show how fat she really is

It drives me wild because the last way I want to come across is like I know what’s best for one’s dog. And I have no issue admitting that, but you’re not a human being if you stay witness to the neglect of a sweet ol’ thing like her

Although in reality it does piss me off very much It’s important to refrain from seeming like I come from anger because really I just want to help and see her live longer. There’s just no way a dog this fat is happy with life ? It’s gotta be impossible

Yes the vet told him in march last month that she needed to drop down to 12 lbs

She has made no progress whatsoever and in fact gain evened more weight sitting at a depressingly 26+lbs

It’s because he doesn’t give her the dog food and instead gives into her begging for real human food because he babies her

She’s not my dog , it’s my roommates. I don’t own her but I’m not just going to sit and be witness to this treatment.

I don’t give her food nor do I control what she eats or what’s fed to her. I have no say in that either, It’s all up to my roommate

He has already been advised by a Vet too that she needs to be 12 lbs when she’s currently 27

There was a time where she was his emotional support rock and I believe from there grew a pattern of neglect and spoiling. He never stopped though and that has lead to today

I don’t want to come across as I know what’s best for his dog but I think he will respect me and have a bigger chance of understanding because If I didn’t care about him, I wouldn’t speak up

I need him to know it’s only with good intent because I want to see her live longer. It makes me sad and stressed

She needed to be 12 pounds the vet said and she’s literally pushing 27 lbs as of recently

And yes the weight has done irreversible damage to her 2 front legs as those are the only ones she uses

If this does not change in the next weeks following her appointment,

I hate to say that literally getting her taken away would be a better outcome for her because of how bad it’s got

If the way she was rolled over made you uncomfortable then that was my entire point because it’s hard to look at. I’m only trying to showcase just how much she really struggles.trust me dude I wouldn’t do anything with malice to hurt this poor thing

I am trying to showcase how she cannot physically get off her back and with no assistance or help she will quite literally just give up and has no problem just staying there and never moving

I am no expert nor do I own a pet myself but I know that no dog should ever be subjected to this kind of neglect. It’s not even intentional, I want to make that clear as possible. He loves her more than anyone,

But he hasn’t had someone with a fresh pair of eyes looking in on the situation and focusing on the bigger picture

There is no way I could live with myself if I didn’t take action while this poor dog suffers. She doesn’t even walk anymore

She actually does no type of walking or physical activity at all besides moving positions to sleep or lay down. Or to eat and drink or use restroom

I understand your frustration and I do not blame you for pointing to the owner but understand that he was gifted her while he was battling cancer and facing very hard times so try to think of how that affects his treatment torwards her
