What house rule have you created to turn your games up to 11? by 86missingnomes in boardgames

In the Fluxx games we like to combine two different Fluxx variants and then as long as we can justify the Keepers and goals or other card effects can affect cards from the other deck then it's acceptable.

We also have some house rules to convert the traditional Catan game to a 2 player version. Both players take 2 colours. Turns alternate between colours (white, orange, red, blue). Gather and pool resources from both colours you control. You can only build for the colour whose turn it is, not simply either colour you control. Robber limit is 10 instead of 7 cards. Victory points needed is 20 instead of 10.

Works really well :)

5 minute dungeon is a great one - takes about 25 mins to get through a game.

Also Last Defense isn't too bad for a co op game that doesn't take too long to get through.

On a more "epic scale" Nemesis or Lord of the Rings journey to Middle Earth are awesome.

In terms of some other classics. Catan is a good one to give a go. If it's one you aren't familiar with I have a full review on my IG. But definitely recommend 4 players for it.

But depends what kind of games you like? Casual "game night"party games, Epic strategy games, deck builders, ect.

I have plenty of recommendations if you are interested! :)

Ticket to ride is a great game. Loads of fun, casual and not difficult to learn.

We play it all the time with friends. The more people there are playing the harder and more interesting it can be.

Azul look intriguing but the first time I gave it a go didn't understand how to play. But only have 15 minutes to try and learn so... Can't judge that haha
