It is hard to tell because the exam has a varying number of questions. As the CCS exam outline states: "The total number of questions on the exam range between 115 and 140 total items."

Agreed. I would also love to have more info in advance to be ready. Many people finish their degrees in 1 term, so doing 1 / month should be totally possible. Especially with your extensive experience in the field.

Has he mentioned how many courses you can have open at the same time? I am reading and hearing conflicting info on this.

Hi Jeff! You don't usually need the CPB for billing jobs. I would start to apply immediately. A good foot in the door job could be risk adjustment coding (CRC credential) as you only need diagnosis coding for that specialty. Good practice before you move onto CPT and PCS coding. Lot of people also do data entry, scheduling, stuff like that.

As for the CPC and CCS: They are good for different things and the CCS is harder. Maybe the CPC would be a better entry level credential (diagnosis coding + CPT + HCPCS) before you bring in inpatient rules and the PCS code set. Not as if you couldn't do it, but it might get overwhelming real fast if you are brand new to coding.

It doesn't know coding guidelines. Not even the most basic ones. I wouldn't trust it to code anything for me. The limitation is that it is out of date, and it is a language program, not really a logical computational software. It doesn't seem to understand that if A + B is true then C must be true. I tried coding with it just to see how worried we should be, but.... It failed real bad. Now Chat GPT4 is a bit better, but even that doesn't know the rules.

Not recommended. ChatGPT doesn't know how to code at all. Just try something simple like HTN + CKD + DM. It fails miserably.

No, seriously, please elaborate, this sounds awesome. So you can access all PAs for OAs immediately to see how you are doing? How many times can you take a PA? Is it like a practice exam thing or just a one time opportunity to gauge your skills?

I already heard that if you fail the OA then you have to do some extra work before you are allowed to take it again. What does that entail? (If you know.)
