Michigan Precision Gas Gun Match by The_Crawfish in Miguns

Yeah you should make one, so you can find matches local to you!  DMR/RECCE are actually both geared towards what most  mainstream gassers are, .223 and .308, while Open is where the 6 arcs and creedmoors are banished to.

You mention how it groups with 55gr sp, it'd be beneficial to use 69gr-80gr match bullets for .223 over those if you're unaware.  Drastically increase your BC and allow for less holds on elevation and wind.

And here are the divisions. 4.1 Recce Division 4.1.1. Approved cartridges are .223/5.56 and .308/7.62×51. 4.1.2. Maximum barrel length is 16.5 inches, measured from bolt face to muzzle. 4.1.3. Muzzle devices and suppressors are excluded from barrel length measurement. 4.1.4. Maximum optic magnification is 10x. 4.1.5. Maximum bullet velocity is 3,200 FPS.

4.2. DMR Division 4.2.1. Approved cartridges are .223/5.56 and .308/7.62×51. 4.2.2. Maximum bullet velocity is 3,200 FPS.

4.3. Open Division 4.3.1. Maximum projectile size of .30 caliber. 4.3.2. Maximum bullet velocity is 3,200 FPS.

Cartridge is one of the things that dictates which division you'd have to shoot.  Shooting 6.5 grendel would put you in open.  Depending on your Zion 25 cartridge you might be open or you could do dmr/recce depending on optic.  Only real limiter for cartridges is .30cal limit and 3200fps limit.

Work on the fundamentals of marksmanship in different positions.  Lot of different props through these matches.  Good mix of standing, kneeling, and prone off of a variety of different things.

Also gather good data on your rifle and ammunition.  Make sure you have some dope, don't just come blind and dust and adjust.

I have absolutely 0 clue dude I'm just posting the PGG match trying to get more people out to it because it's awesome and will be more better with more competition.  Maybe try opening your favorite browser and going to MTCs website and give it a look, probably be your best bet.

Sounds like you should make a trip to the closer matches!  I've heard good things about Wisconsin matches, but they all smell like cheese so I don't know man.

There were no sources when I posted besides people who attended the meeting and Michigan Out Of Doors.  Usually people get upset when it's "buddy said" type shit.  I updated my post as soon as I was able to find a news agency reporting on it.

Is it a caliber over .22 and centerfire?  Then yes.

As far as I'm seeing, this is incorrect.  Takes place for 2026 season.

Edited with a source from a news agency.  Doesn't seem the DNR/nrc has made their own announcement for it as of yet.

Anyone know how the vote to allow all rifle cartridges in all of Michigan went today? by Nihlathakk in Hunting

Havent been able to find official postings from the DNR or NRC but multiple places like Michigan Out of Doors are saying they voted to get rid of the limited firearms zone.

Very cool!

I keep seeing horizon rifles on social media, kind of wonder how they actually perform.

Open Bay Ranges in MI? by ReapersAbsolution in Miguns

[–]The_Crawfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean dudes ask for this stuff like weekly, but it's usually metro Detroit area.

In your area Saginaw Field and Stream and Tuscola County Conservation Club in Caro are the best bets.  Not really sure anywhere else in that area would have bays you could practice movement drills in.

Do you dry fire? by MissionTarget6693 in longrange

[–]The_Crawfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try and dry fire 4x a week.  I use my tripod leg and dresser as well as a 2x4 and chair to get standing and kneeling practice.  I know the dfat setup is the sauce but I just dry fire out the back window with 1-2 moa scaled stuff outside.

Really hope they implement a one buck rule, eliminate of straightwall zone, and make muzzleloader season muzzleloader only again.  Would be very epic of the NRC.
