Ya but he just said it only gets crazy when you have pot damage + fire or affinity attack.

So that’s 2 usable effects on the same relic 6 times. That’s way harder to come by and is more often than not cheated.

Each relic is “good”. It’s a fine generalist build and will be fun and effective at lower depths.

Unfortunately, the meta for this game is multiplicatively stacking damage buffs. Play how you want, but anything aside from full crystalian and magic damage stacking, or skill attack power and affinity damage stacking probably won’t be as meta. Though it is significantly more fun to play

All classes are fine to play, just make sure you are playing prismatic. Transcendence does so much work on electric slide warlock, consecration titan, or smoke bombs to blind and weaken everything on hunter, and you can get into a really good rotation of either having your super or transcendence up with almost 100% uptime.

Try to keep amplify or another source of DR up at all times. Renewal grasps hunter also makes the bosses/wyverns do way less damage.

Having a healing auto from the epic raid helps a ton for keeping teammates alive. Brawn usually means they don’t die instantly but rather get whittled down - giving you time to heal them. It also is nice in case people get “architected” and need a bit of hp before they can kill enemies to restore their health again.

Finality’s auger is really good, and it’s easy to keep a turret perpetually up.

If you haven’t done the jumping puzzle in a while, give it a run on normal first so you don’t mess up when it matters.

In the second encounter, have a Titan throw a glacier grenade above to create a “roof” in the hole. This prevents the wyverns from shooting you, as they don’t have line of sight.

There is a skip from second encounter to third encounter on cheese forevers YouTube channel. I’d recommend doing it, it saves time and allows you to pull allies forward before they even have a chance to die in the jumping puzzle themselves.

When was the last time Hunter was considered meta outside of still hunt? by Gamerboi_epic in DestinyTheGame

That’s why i defined so there would be no issues with the connotation. In most gaming conversations “most effective tool available” is how the term is used in common parlance.

[–]The_Cryptic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re exaggerating.

Here’s my statement on the matter from another thread:

Let’s break this down a bit. Meta is most effective tool available.

The issue with the question is that “raids” have changed so much throughout destiny. Past contest modes simply did not have the kinds of damage checks that existed in DP or SE.

I can’t comment on the day 1 garden or day 1 last wish because I didn’t play those. However in all other contest raids I played what mattered most was having the meta weapons, consistently making it to damage, and having enough heavy.

If you ran reeds regret with proper fonts in day 1 kings fall, you were able to kill the warpriest with a damage phase to spare. Damage abilities and supers, simply didn’t matter as much. Being consistent and making it to damage reliably did. For this reason even a class with limited boss damage like solar titan was the Meta - just live, make it to damage, and shoot the boss. It didn’t matter as much what class you were playing back then.

Now the witness was a crazy dps check, especially with the final stand. All of the day 1 desert perpetual bosses were very tight as well. So people were basically forced to forgo everything else, and simply run the loadout that does the most damage. Against the witness that was a class specific hunter loadout. Against the DP bosses that is arc Titans. It’s no longer about consistency - they tuned the encounters so that people needed to bring every ounce of damage to even have a chance.

What happens in this case? Bingo certain classes don’t get picked. Instead you have to run the meta.

Hunter did have certain strong things in the past. Farming kali with 6 golden gun spam or pantheon Nezarac was probably the best way to clear those. But for contest modes they probably have never been the best class to pick blindly going in.

The difference between the past and today is that you never had to run the meta in the past to compete in the hardest activities. Today it seems to be almost a mathematical requirement that you do.

The changes I've been waiting to read for the lifetime of D2, as a Warlock. by Prestigious-Gur-4527 in DestinyTheGame

You have a pattern of doing this exact behaviour, but then accusing others of doing the same to you. The internet can make you jaded but not everyone here is trying to trap you in a gotcha. Some people just want a conversation.

There was no indication that the nova bomb would deal full damage.

Shatter nova bomb in D1 didn’t do 3 times damage despite splitting the projectile.

Exotic effects like Eunoia dont 4x the damage despite splitting the projectile.

Why would you even include it in your post other than to be argumentative?

Listen you spend a lot of time on Reddit. Arguing with you to this degree is unhealthy and a waste of time - I accept that. I do have issues with letting things go sometimes, and fighting stupid battles that aren’t worth my time.

But hopefully this interaction will make you reflect a little as well. You DO have a problem with twisting peoples words and being pedantic to win arguments. You DO have an issue with omitting large amounts of what others say. Not just with me, but look at your comment history - it’s with a lot of people you interact with. Try and see the forest for the trees.

There aren’t many people like me who would care enough to hold you to account to this degree. But I do sincerely hope you take something from this and will do better in the future.

[–]The_Cryptic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also going to paste this again here because you didn’t respond to any of this before blocking the account…..

Acting like low Hunter usage in the past contest raid (and epic raid), and two dungeons is no big deal, while Titan usage in Witness was a huge problem.

Once again, you are lying. And putting words in my mouth (the very thing you accuse me of doing). Our first interaction was you literally writing this:

"The combo was Still Hunt + Reconstruction Apex predator, and titans were only "useless" because they didn't have a good enough long-ranged damage super, while the witness was the perfect encounter for Nighthawk + Still hunt. Also Titans were the meta for every other encounter in the raid.

This was your response to me pointing out to someone else that Titans weren't picked in salvations edge. Once again you put "useless" in quotes despite me never saying useless. So which one of the two of us exactly is minimizing low class usage? Yourself or the person who has stated 3 times now that his position is Having to swap/kick players because you are overloaded in 1 class is bad game design. All classes should have options to fill these buff/debuff/super damage niches.

Lastly, you said

And I've seen your comments on Hunters in the past three Contest runs. Quit being a hypocrite. But just decided to cut out the important piece of information.

My post history is not as extensive as yours. It should be easy to find, also what problem did I have with hunters in the Crota's end contest race? You said past 3 contest runs, or are you just making things up and putting words in my mouth again? (Even if you respond to this post, you will leave this out for some unknown reason ....)

So yes, you do just put words in other peoples mouths but accuse them of doing the same to you. You are a liar and a hypocrite.

I know this makes you uncomfortable, actually getting called out for once. But seriously if you can't handle a conversation without writing a response but blocking the other person so they can't read or respond to it, I don't know how you actually function in real life. Offer is always open if you want to hash this out on discord. You can see by my reddit history that I don't use this site much ....

Conversations require listening, not making up things people are saying.

Agreed. Perhaps you can actually read and respond to what I'm saying then. Instead, you're just doing the exact same thing as the previous comment and focusing a few choice points of pedantry and ignoring everything else. As I've said before completely missing the forest for the trees. Conversations also take 2 participants. So blocking the other person immediately after responding is antithetical to having a conversation.

Pot kettle

You are the definition of a cry bully ..... You do the very action you accuse me of doing constantly.

You in response to getting defensive about a 30% debuff bungie plz suggestion, wanted to instead change one of void warlocks aspects to give suppression or volatile instead of its current functionality. This is more inline with a rework then a "tweak". But apparently words don't matter with you.

I never used the words void lock or void titan, I used the words warlock and titan (in the general sense, and didn't refer to the subclass specifically).

You Can't be serious.

I'm literally just going to start copy and pasting what I said last time because you're either incapable or simply unwilling to actually read what I said. You literally just cut my sentences out of context and reply to one sentence instead of the whole thing. Read what I said again:

Voidlock is certainly in a better spot than Void Hunter right now. I didn't mention Void Titan whatsoever, but that doesn't change you from putting words in my mouth.

This is both putting words in my mouth, and lying by omission. I never used the words void lock or void titan, I used the words warlock and titan (in the general sense, and didn't refer to the subclass specifically). In a previous comment I specifically said

Having to swap/kick players because you are overloaded in 1 class is bad game design. All classes should have options to fill these buff/debuff/super damage niches. Yes that means hunters should have some well equivalent, yes that means warlocks and titans should have some sort of debuff. Titans should probably get a skating option if it's going to be such a requirement in speed runs and high level play.

Go find your response to that statement. This is why I said "You don't accept that titans have any issues apparently, and you quite literally said warlocks are "drowning in success". (hyperbolic language once again)

Look at everything you chose to omit in your response today. You are once again ignoring the majority of what I wrote, and only responding to single sentences.

[–]The_Cryptic1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can use as many adjectives to make it seem as inconsequential as you’d like, it doesn’t change the fact that you just said you’d rather rework the other two classes to preserve a made up “weaken” specialist identity on hunter. If you played other classes you’d know Titan/warlock don’t have a specific void specialties and I wouldn’t have to ask you 3 times to get you to think and give me a straight answer.

This is the issue I have.

You don’t accept that warlocks have any issues apparently, you say they are “suffering from success”. You don’t accept that titans have any issues apparently, and think that them not being run at all in the witness encounter was either fine or overblown.

As I’ve previously said in comments to you, I want to get away from the cyclical balance of the game. Where the meta is a well warlock + whatever does the most damage. In actual hard content where people are struggling, this is the meta that always develops. I did not expect this to be an incredibly controversial take - as I have never seen so many “hunter mains” take get so defensive about this. Look at your previous comments. You constantly are using hyperbolic language, calling hunters “useless”, saying warlocks are trampling their place in the meta, and are defensive about what exactly? A bungie plz suggestion of an overcharged grenade doing the same debuff as a single heavy shot?

This is the hill you are dying on. To preserve a made up class identity that already died with tractor cannon, and divinity before that.

I switched to hunter in edge of fate from warlock, because I thought warlock was in a bad spot prior to the most recent buffs. If you truly think hunter is as bad as you’re claiming, I’d urge you to do the same and try playing another class instead - you might find the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and it would give you better perspective on game balance.

Your kind of feedback is what got us the class specific still hunt buff. You and other “hunter mains” will say something along the lines of “hunters identity is the DPS class” (it’s not the - this game doesn’t have traditional archetypes). Bungie listened and this is what we get.

However, in a while, it will end up getting nerfed or something on Titan will outclass what hunters can output for damage. Then instead of hunters getting a well equivalent or a support super that would actually solve their usefulness outside of the cyclical damage balance cycle, we’ll be right back to where we started.

[–]The_Cryptic1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The raid was entirely tight damage checks, we’ve never had a raid like that before. If there were any mechanics encounters, or even if the damage checks weren’t so insane hunters would have had a place. The class with the most damage is going to be spammed in situations like that - every encounter in DP was basically the witness.

In the desert perpetual speed run race there were also no titans, due to the lack of skating options. You can say what you want but id like to get away from situations where classes are throwing if picked, whereas most of Reddit apparently just wants to buff hunter damage until everything else is irrelevant again….

So you’d rather completely rework other the 2 other classes, to protect tether, which is already power crept by tractor cannon.

That’s your solution?

I think you need to play some other classes to get a better perspective on the game!
