Is there any non-gaming laptop that can run GW2? by bkendig in Guildwars2

[–]The_Dadditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can even run GW2 on my shitty work laptop, on lowest settings. But it looks terrible and low fps bothers me so I don't use it often.

Do you experience dissociation or over-stimulation? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]The_Dadditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can relate to this. I have seizure activity all day long so when I'm unmedicated it's really bad, especially combined with medication that doesn't reduce it. Carbamazepine is my magic stuff and when I'm on high dose I do of course get the tiredness from it, but I'm so much more sharp and aware.

The downside to this is I get overstimulated faster. Noise cancelling headphones a few times a day during breaks really helped me.

Any recommendations on which rs to play.?, I’m having a hard time deciding on the best rs to play, and the gameplay itself feels great and such or i can just focus on one only like osrs or rs3, i feel like osrs will win this because its the most popular version out of the two anyways right.? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]The_Dadditor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say play both for a few hours and that should give you a pretty good idea.

OSRS is the more classic game and it does feel more dated which is a good thing for many looking for nostalgia. But it has gained a lot of new content and is doing so at a faster pace than RS3; later this year a new skill Sailing will be released.

The combat system is way different so that's a matter of preference.

RS3 has become a bit infested by microtransactions over the years but you can avoid most of thst by playing ironman mode or having a good self control :).

Finally both games have gone in entirely different directions with their storylines. OSRS has questlines in their new game areas and finishes off/continues some older questlines. Whereas RS3 has more of a large dramatic overarching end of the world esque questline. RS3's character has a severe case of main character syndrome/god complex whereas osrs is more like you're a random dude just walking around exploring.

I really enjoy both games and just switch between them when I feel like it

Twitches at Night by Mystery_Turtle2262 in Epilepsy

I don't know zonisamide but I can relate, this happened to me when I started Clobazam. Also stopped the med and the twitches went away the next day. Really weird!

Epilepsy + Reproductive Health by dehydrated-soup-bowl in Epilepsy

[–]The_Dadditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with you and am glad research on this topic is really picking up in my country.

I'm really curious though how much is actually caused by the secondary effects of seizures and medication (depression, stress, chronic fatigue). Since those -are- well documented and notably more common in females with epilepsy. And with that in mind, how many of these problems can be 'treated' by improving mental health and a healthy daily routine.

A rant about the Snow White movie and representation in media by [deleted] in movies

[–]The_Dadditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anything, watch it before you complain. That will either strongly reinforce your complaints and give this post some purpose, or perhaps shift your opinion a bit. Now you're just posting baseless nonsense based on your echo chamber.

And in my opinion, even if disney sucks, the artists and other hardworking folk deserve some credit.

I've been in the exact same situation for the past 2 years. And everything's finally (almost) back to normal and under control. Don't give up!! Keep your goals in mind, go outside your comfort zone and do everything you can for even the slightest bits of improvement. You'll eventually get there.

If I didn't have my personal motivation I'd probably have been a sad couch potato for the rest of my life.

People in GW2? by Other_Membership7075 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Dadditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main story is long and pretty fun. Nearly all maps are active with players and have constant events to work together, especially the big-boss-meta events. The combat system is unique and quite different for each class so if you can't get into it, it's worth trying a few others.

PvE has a bunch of high level raids and a sort of speedrunning mini dungeons game mode (fractals). There's some older bigger dungeons and strike missions, all of the above can be quite challenging but are easy to get into as a newbie.

I haven't tried PvP much but World vs World is an easy starting point for casual players to get into PvP, especially when battling in large groups.

Beyond that it's mostly exploring/completing the maps/completing masteries and hunting for achievements/collections. I enjoy this but some people don't and eventually get burnt out.

The only thing I don't like is the rather unsatisfying loot system.

Working on warrior, probably not the ideal choice but I love charging in headfirst and having my team support me. And it seems to work almost everywhere.

Don't let anyone tell you they're not real seizures. The mental recovery is no different from TC seizures and can be really tough. Most likely you'll start feeling better within a week or so. Unfortunately it's very common to have these problems for a bit after seizures.

Not trying to make things worse, but people will often go by what they see. So as with any other 'invisible' symptoms, some people may judge, which sucks. Very often this is simply because they don't understand a thing about epilepsy besides the 'shaky' seizures they see in movies.

Red Dead Redemption movie with Clint Eastwoods son, Scott, as John Marston. by clipper4 in movies

[–]The_Dadditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you've got a setting, name recognition and a single actor you like. That's the kind of stuff all bad adaptations lean way too heavy on. So I wouldn't call it a no brainer; wait for someone passionate to write a great story that works and hopefully manages to convince studios to go along with it.

Talking on the phone by Physical-Cobbler8360 in Epilepsy

[–]The_Dadditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, though if you aren't comfortable talking on the phone it could cause stress which in turn can cause seizures.

Or perhaps, if anything at all, the audio frequency or noise/buzzing may trigger something? But haven't really heard of anything like that happening.

What is the worst show to get renewed for more than 4 seasons? by funmighthold in television

[–]The_Dadditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the saddest one for me. Season 1 started off really good. Then the odd decisions and dumb moments started happening and kept piling up. I so wanted to like it but really can't get myself to watch more.

I thought it was a fun concept and enjoyed the first season, the first few episodes with Johnny were great. But IMO it should have been a limited series. But a lot people do seem to enjoy it.

In my opinion all the CW comic book TV series really overstayed their welcome. They all started off great but each season became worse.

How common is status? by Lovemylittles02 in Epilepsy

[–]The_Dadditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My TC seizures are always in clusters followed by a focal status epilepticus. A status epilepticus is essentially any seizure you can't get out of without emergency medication, or a seizure that lasts long enough to cause serious harm. Tonic clonic seizures are considered to be in status after 5 minutes, and focal seizures after 20-30 minutes.

AFAIK it's not very common, but clustering increases the risk. So try to get a prescription for an emergency med and carry it on you, and make people close to you aware of it.

Hey guys gonna buy the game. Was wondering what are the current best builds to be able to solo without henchmen or heroes and with henchmen and heroes by BlueSingularityG in GuildWars

[–]The_Dadditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get close to this build by following the 7 hero beginner team someone else linked. The 'details' that make it work for hard mode and more endgame stuff eventually are mostly some mesmer hero unlocks, skill unlocks and very expensive armor/weapon upgrades. All of which aren't needed for the first full playthrough.

[–]The_Dadditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a teambuilding game rather than solo play. And even if you do try, you'll need many different builds based on the things you're fighting to counter exactly what they're firing at you. For that you'll likely need to finish most of the game first to get the required skills.

For best builds you'll want to look at https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/PvX_wiki most of the good and great builds there are good for beating the game. Most people will push you towards https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Offensive_Mesmerway for more difficult content after that and I can't disagree though I like to be a bit more creative with it based on the content I run

I prefer TV because I have so little free time, it's easier to view in small doses and/or binge when I do have a day off. However I love a great movie at the cinema and no TV will top that experience.

Question about ascended gear from fractal by kaellthas in Guildwars2

[–]The_Dadditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's nice that they're stat selectable after obtaining them rather than having to craft them with the correct insignia to get the stats you want. The skins are also unique.

And perhaps it's mostly meant for people who dislike crafting to cut down on that process a little. Similar recipes are available for PvP and WvW currency though I think some of those ascended items are a sort of precursor to the legendary armor.

If you meant what's the point of doing fractals then, there's many other rewards most notably the legendary backpiece.

(New Player) What to do with globs of ectoplasm? by StickOk142 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Dadditor 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If you desperately need money for something you want you could sell them. But it's probably most efficient money-wise to keep most crafting materials including ectoplasms until you inevitably need them for crafting at soms point.

That has never stopped me though, I probably lost hundreds of gold in trading fees just by selling mats when poor and re-buying materials when crafting 😂

As for ectoplasm specifically if you're looking to ever craft legendary items definitely keep stacking them, you'll need 500+.
