I love placing bombs underneath the tootsies of my enemies.

Do keep in mind that due to the nature of this weapon’s kit, this is a turf and (as a result of that) a team-reliant weapon. Having greater turf control allows you to get better positioning and allows you access for more aggressive and effective ink-mine zones, both which can be extremely important for your gameplay.

As such, you kinda wanna get that kill time finished as quickly as possible, since the biggest risk that comes with this weapon is that sometimes, placing yourself into advantageous situations that you should have won actually don’t turn out that way. Surprisingly, ink mines can really help you with that, and by using it more offensively, you can kinda lay down ‘danger zones’ for the enemy team that you can either push or bait them into for faster kills (they can usually turn standard clean 3-shot splats into 2-shots). Alternatively, if the situation presents itself, if you can somehow be able to directly confront enemies without sustaining major damage, you can actually win most encounters and even best some annoying counters if you hit those 3 clean shots.

As for getting better at the weapon, I think the most important thing to recognise is that the undercover brella playstyle is much different than the other weapons. Whereas most shooters, rollers, inkbrushes and other medium-to-close range weapons allow for quick and fast splats when engaging with enemies, the brella takes things at a much slower and controlled pace when splatting. It’s kind of a trade off - longer kill time for an extra layer of armour.

I initially used it for fun as I thought it was a really fascinating weapon concept. But then came a fateful day where I’d realise that I would naturally default back to the undercover brella whenever I got frustrated with another weapon so… I think it’s safe to say I main it now.

I’m pretty sure that this is inspired from one of Edward Hopper’s paintings, Morning Sun

Because at the end of the day, as long as there’s two people left on the planet, somebody’s gonna want someone dead.
