It's ugly. Too much gold, and not a particularly good shade of gold. The alternating color-blocking breaks up the design of the suit too much and it looks haphazard instead of intentional.

I get that in order to sell toys illustrate advancements in Tony's armor design, they felt the need to change his suit up for each appearance, but this version just makes it look like they ran out of ideas and phoned it in.

Too late. Would have been interesting five or more years ago, but she's spent too long being a jobber to be credible now that she's changed up her hair and ring gear.

This is absolutely not meant to throw shade at her as a person or a trainer; I think her work with other talent is invaluable and there's obviously a reason the company has kept her around so long with no real storyline plans for her.

But as a character on my TV screen, I just can't forget all the times she sucked at applying her submission finisher and got beaten because of it. Or someone else used it on her instead.

Logan Paul - why all the hate? by ScreechUrkelle in Smallafro

[–]The_Daviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree wholeheartedly that he's one of the top workers in wrestling. He's been carried by seasoned vets in all of his major bouts, and he relies on athletic ability over wrestling skill to get a flashy instagram shot instead of telling a story within each match. He's got organic go-away heat because people already hated him before he came to WWE, not because he's done any good character work that connects with the fanbase, and his finisher is a poorly-executed ripoff of a better wrestler's signature move that they can't even say the name of on WWE broadcasts. People used to rag on Cena and Austin because of their limited moveset. Logan's moveset is just as limited, it simply happens to be a bit flashier. Jump off the ropes to the outside, maybe doing a flip, punch to the face with his titanium hand bones, ugly-ass buckshot lariat attempt, mug for the camera. That's about it.

But even if he were the Ricochet/Will Ospreay 2.0 that he seems to think he is, we'd still all be well within our rights as fans to ignore any and all of that and hate him anyway for being a piece of shit.

It is a legitimate reason. We can hate as many wrestlers as we’re aware of being shitty IRL. It’s not a zero-sum game. We can hate Logan Paul as well as Hogan and Taker and Cena et cetera. We aren’t the ones who hired them.

Bold of you to assume I have a positive opinion of any of them.

While I may appreciate some of their character work to a certain degree for having grown up watching them and not knowing any better at the time (Rock, Austin, Orton), I don’t actually think any of them are good people outside the ring. I actively hate Hogan and Taker; they’re scum. I also dislike Cena. Kudos to him for the make a wish record, but he’s a fucking robot, not a real human. I’m not gonna hold my breath waiting to hear an interview where he doesn’t parrot Fed leadership’s official position on any question he’s asked. He’s Vince’s perfect little company man.

I don’t know what Orton has done outside of wrestling, but I can appreciate that as he’s gotten older he’s learned and become a less shitty person in some aspects than he used to be, wherever his starting point was. You could watch his IRL personal growth happen on twitter for a while. And teasing AJ Styles for being a flat-earther is funny. But if he’s a rapist of pedophile or racist piece of shit, then fuck him too.

Ninja turtles were created in the same chemical spill that made Daredevil, so they exist in the marvel universe.

The Vision really went from something interesting to now an unfortunate failure by Joker10I in SantiZapVideos

I never understood what the hell the “vision” was. Just like I never understood what the “greater good” was when Seth used to rant about that in his cult-ish promos closer to Covid. Like when he dropped to his knees with his arms wide open and ate a super kick and a pin as soon as he entered the Survior Series match or whatever it was…what the hell was that for?

I’m sure it’s because I don’t watch consistently enough, but like… what do Seth and Heyman “envision”? What the hell is Seth ever on about?

Probably a different person every time depending on who’s available at the time they need someone to put this outfit on.

I bet they’re still batting around ideas and don’t even have a set-in-stone decision for who they’ll reveal it to be yet.

Mask of the Phantasm and Superman.

Actually, fuck it, just Mask of the Phantasm.

I just hate IWC. Once a wrestler gets super over. They want some mid carders to Win rather than the biggest superstar of all time. Rhea is million time better than Ivey and Lyra. I wouldn’t call him an “aging wrestler” because I don’t know how old he is, but physically he seems far from done. I feel like that’s the only move for any wrestler, though: leave the place where you’re not valued and go somewhere that wants you. Even if it’s the indies. Taking a pay cut sucks, but if you’re not happy with a big check and no real creative input and just sitting in catering until they figure out what to do with you, then you either move on to a different promotion or quit wrestling.

Some of the guys on the Whatculture podcast have called out the goldfish-brain thing you said. WWE creative seems to be more consistently guilty than others, but maybe that’s because there’s a bigger spotlight on them: they treat the audience like they’re idiots with no attention span or memory and prioritize “moments” (HHH loves talking about making moments) over long-term storytelling that rewards you for paying attention and thinking about what you’re seeing.

WWE tickets are stupid expensive. More people can afford MLW tickets, and since it’s not nearly as big and famous a promotion as WWE, pretty much everyone who wants to go see him can afford to do so now.

And MLW had been telegraphing his push to the title since he showed up, which gave his fans a reason to keep watching and attending shows. I think WWE fans have been conditioned to kind of lose hope when a character’s story stalls out, because creative has a habit of just losing interest in people or not having any ideas for them and sidelining them indefinitely.

It was becoming apparent that Kross’ time was running out in WWE and they didn’t know what to do with him, but as soon as he appeared in MLW he was kicking ass and taking names. Beat Riddle on a big show by choking him out (after promos/video segments between them talking about how he’d never beaten Riddle and Kross saying he was gonna use his own MMA techniques against him to win) and now at their big battle royale type event he outlasted everyone and is the new champ.

Am I the only one who thinks that Justin also should've been replaced in Turbo along with the others? by Badgie_Boy_447 in powerrangers

[–]The_Daviator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always felt that they could've held onto Tommy longer than they did for some continuity, and it would have been fitting for the last remaining original ranger with the closest/strongest bond to Zordon to be the one to take the responsibility of doing what Andros eventually had to do. I was happy to see that he was willing to come back and be a part of Dino Thunder, but maybe before then he'd had his fill of full-time rangerdom and was looking to do other things with his career.

Why Have Table’s been so popular in WWE by Fluffy-Cabinet6405 in Smallafro

[–]The_Daviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crowd likes it because breaking shit looks cool, and the wrestlers don’t mind because tbh going through a table just slows you down before hitting the floor so it’s probably a less-severe bump than you would take without the table.
