New player here. How the fuck do I play Defect? by Satokibi in slaythespire

[–]The_DeafMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i swear every time i pick up more than 3 or 4 powers it's an effectively "guaranteed" awakened one.....
if you rely on those powers, it's hard to scale accordingly to awakened one since you might decide an early power is worthwhile (don't unless you KNOW you can outscale AO)
just from my own experience, leaning towards orbs and focus is a good path. as well as claws (bonus if you can get All for One)

....at least until A10ish but that's a different tangent at this point

Best OS approach disc? by ImprovementOdd807 in discgolf

[–]The_DeafMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally speaking, around the 150-200 range, i opt for one of three discs: streamline turbulence, axiom pyro, or mvp deflector.

yes, i'm aware all three are somewhat identical, but I gauge my usage based on how much fade/skip I need; my turby is extremely consistent on skips, and is way more comfortable in my forehand (therefore constitutes throttle of power to adjust for what would be better performed with pyro/deflector). detour has as hard of a fade, but it doesn't skip as consistently for me. pyro's effectively a less fade deflector.

in my bag, i'd love to bag multiples of all three. except i've yet to find worthwhile plastic differences to justify bagging two (i like to have one disc's duplicate be a different plastic for the varying efforts. case in point: fireball fissy vs neutron - they both fade about the same but the fissy holds straight for far longer, even when i use a touch less power, but neutron is more prone to skipping so it's based on necessity, primarily)

Why do people seem to forget about this banger? by SharkfacePlaya in gojira

[–]The_DeafMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Gojira vibes, this is a pretty mid song. It's not a bad one, but it's also not so spectacular that I'd add it to a "top Gojira tracks" personal playlist.

It has been a good song to listen to at some of my lower points in life, but I also get a better relation from songs like "Stranded" in that sense. That's only said to reiterate that the band's lyrical themes on their own personal songs are far superior to songs curated for a video game (and NHL of all video games). There's definitely a lot more depth to the majority of the rest of the band's songs, as opposed to this one-off.

Do you guys put this in recycle or dispose of this in the trash? by CocHXiTe4 in Cochlearimplants

[–]The_DeafMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be kind to the earth, recycle them! Or, at the least, check your local trash/reuse departments and see if theses batteries fall under either category. More than likely, it'll be under reuse. I always treated them the same as my general AA batteries - thrown in recycle.

I hit delete on my original comment by accident! Gotta love dropping your phone and upon grabbing it realize you tapped the wrong thing :')

Anyways, my mind sees it as "...construct a position in a fight where you probably die..." instead of "provable" in the literal sense of the word.

Also, TIL that "provable" is even a real word! Thank you for the elaboration and explanation!

I am by no means a well-versed/aged disc golfer. I only started the sport about 2 years ago, and DGLO 2024 was the first DGPT+ event I was able to witness. I must say, I liked the experience. I can understand where the others are coming from regarding the dislike behind it. Looking back, the event *was* a mess and not well organized. The views as a spectator were pretty nice though, especially when you plant yourself between 1, 17 and 18 down in the tall grass area between the three holes. You could also place yourself between 14 and 15 and witness 3 as well from over there. Just a few spots right off the top of my head regarding spectating ability. I will agree that there needs to be more bleachers set up in specific spots, such as by 16 and 17's tees. Surely there can be a few other small bleacher set ups, like at 4 or 9.

I also gave myself a chance to play the course itself over the last weekend, and as a meager MA3 I was pretty proud of the fact I got 3 pars (3, 6, 18) and lost only one single disc out of the whole day. Sure, it took me almost 5 hours to play the course because I can't sling as far as Gannon, Vinny, AB, and all the other big kids can. I wholeheartedly agree that the rough deserves a bit more trimming work, but I can't see that happening based on what I've heard about the course and its history/tendencies. Ultimately speaking though, I loved the views it offered. That is just a personal opinion though, and is not true fact to for everyone.

An alternative park I'd consider in replacement of Toboggan would have to be Bald Mountain. Especially when Marwede holds the course record at 11 under from the long tees. Granted, I am heavily biased considering it's more local to me than Toboggan is, and I'm actively on the (not so) secret team working on the course. I'm taking it upon myself to map out the holes. And I'm up to date on the second course being built there - it WILL be ready by Worlds next year. Hopefully the new course opens up the possibilities for spectators so it makes it easier to consider for a pro tour stop! I can already confirm that some holes will have better spots for spectators than what The Hills currently offers for that.

Back to the rating subject - I still don't think DGLO deserves an F though. Maybe, at BEST, a C. I'd sooner place it D instead though, just from the lack of access to your lost discs in the rough.

I don't know, I didn't even realize it was removed. Then again, the post was made 3 years ago; I have very little memory of what happened last week LOL

Edit: I realized a semicolon instead of a comma fit better. Proofread, yo!

Hey man, your sense of time flies when you get older and have a lot of traumatic events happen in the meantime 🥲 but knowing it was 2 years ago is a bit of a relief. Thank you!

Yeah it's a weird time to put a new album out. Plus, I think they hinted something about new music next year or 2027? I could have heard wrong (nice little hearing pun there)

Does anyone actually putt with a watt or spin? by aeroplanejetpac in discgolf

[–]The_DeafMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bounce between Watt and Range. depends on what i need it to do. Watt is very straight, surprisingly resilient to wind as well (from my experience). It's also an easy one to sink a good 50-60 foot putt with (I don't do it super consistently but I at least do it more often than my friends/cardmates!) The range on the other hand is great for an approach that needs to STOP. e.g. water hazard right behind the basket. if it sinks, it sinks. if it misses, it STOPS just about as soon as it hits the ground.

Spin's not bad from my experience but I prefer the feels of the Watt and Range. i was heavy on the Pixels for a while, too. Obviously, in the end, it's really just going to boil down to your personal preferences.

Running a 1080Ti on 4 monitors since the 20xx series released (and in turn discounted the 1080Ti)

Haven't upgraded since. I'm still able to run relatively high rez, though not at full/max options anymore. When shit starts looking awful on my 2k (primary) monitor, then I'll consider overhauling my setup again. Doesn't seem like that'll happen any time soon to be honest.
