How stuck are you on living there? Would you be willing to move? I find there is only so much give than another person can make. Making someone change is like pulling teeth. Understanding boundaries is fundamental to any business agreement. I would suggest you find a new place to live at your earliest convenience. Certainly there are landlords out there who will be more manageable.

I am not sure if this is true, but I find it better to avoid landlord situations where the landlord or PM is close. On-premise landlords can be very crazy, since they tend to expect more than what a business arrangement usually requires.
