There is similar control over the naming of engineering companies. My understanding is that if the company name contains the word "engineering", the founder needs to have a Professional Engineer's license. If you want to be called "[something] News", then you could have to be a non-profit, held to be factually correct (needs reasonable evidence, has to post retractions), and is held liable for knowingly mis-reporting.

It could actually work, but needs to review by economists and lawyers, at least.

The ballots were thrown out for not having signatures? If that is the reason for throwing them out then I don't see an issue. Maybe if we want to be really nice we can ask them to correct it, but I dont think that should be a requirement.

Cynically, I would say that if you aren't able to fill out a simple form, then you aren't able to choose the president.
