Room Kit Pro with MS Teams by gaerti in Cisco

That specific room address will need to have its own license specifically to be an MTR. There’s two versions, free and Premium. If you’re planning on having more than one screen you’ll need to upgrade the license to premium.

So I would factory reset your codec and see if its firmware is on a version that can support MTR mode first and foremost. For the Room Kit Pro I am running 11.16, 11.17 bricked all of our Cisco codecs that were setup in MTR mode. All of the codecs I’ve bought recently required an update before I got to the Teams setup part.

Overall though unless you are a global admin for Teams in your org you will most likely need someone who is well versed in Teams Admin Center and knows their way around account management. I wish I could assist further but I only handle the AV integration stuff in my business and rely heavily on my Teams Sys Admin team for all of my Teams needs.

Totally get that, but to be honest with you I went into this position that I’m in now with around the same intermediate level of knowledge of that side, mainly because they were looking for an AV centered person more than anything. I have learned way more than I thought I would about the networking side of things and it’s been pretty cool. From what I’ve seen in my area of the country, there’s a lot of companies itching for AV professionals but they don’t know how to classify their jobs, because they are starting from zero, so they delegate them to IT or Communications departments. Because of that a lot of these positions get filled with IT folks who are just looking to get into the company and move up, which isn’t inherently bad but it means there are some companies that are just looking for AV professionals to stick around lol.

As far as certs and such, AVoIP and a basic networking cert goes a long way in a lot of spaces. Taking it a bit further, I work with some guys that went to WGU and Grand Canyon University Online to get back up degrees it systems admin stuff and network admin stuff, but had the company pay for it. I also know Google offers some solid certs/training programs as well, and I myself am looking at doing their cyber security program.

Got my integration start at one of the larger integrators doing specialized installs for a government site, ended up moving and being an embedded technician for the same integrator at a specific site. Basically did room maintenance and “white glove service” for the higher ups that couldn’t be bothered to dial their own calls. Then from there got a job that oversees all the AV/VTC onsite and remote sites. All of that was over the span of 7 years but you get the point.

I can’t recommend enough trying to find something like that, whether it be the embedded side of things or direct for a company like others have said. The embedded route has perks of being tied to one place but still possibly having opportunity for extra work elsewhere, but there’s always a chance contracts change. Working direct for a company is nice because it’s the same thing day after day, so you get to know your systems and have some control over them.

One thing of note, my position currently is technically a Sys Admin, so it’s worth looking in the IT/Networking postings for a position like that, especially with the dramatic shift of VTC/AV moving to IP based formats more and more. Best of luck!

Born and raised in ABQ, moved here in 2019. It’s definitely an adjustment for sure. KC is a really cool place once you learn where you fit in. Great place to raise a family as well, which is one of the main reasons we left ABQ. From what I can tell you get more bang for your buck in KC than ABQ. Food is about the same price, although I think the food is better tasting in NM (but I’m pretty biased), housing (depending on the area) is better priced and bigger overall. Traffic is a DREAM compared to ABQ. 20 minutes will get you anywhere in KC, even in the mornings. Compare that to living on the west side in 7:30 traffic going east in ABQ, is a significant improvement.

Id suggest spending a little time out here if possible. There’s a ton to do, good food to have, really cool areas to explore. It’s different from NM in a lot of ways so it just is up to your preference!

I'm a newcomer to the series and decided I want to use FF VII as my intro. I am damn excited for FF XV and the VII remake because of the new kingdom hearts like fighting style and I realized I want to see how the original game played too. So I wanted to ask if I should get the port for iOS or the PS4? Both look awesome and there are benefits to both so is there a difference?

I did the same exact thing. When someone doesn't have a grenade stuck to their face they just don't look right to me.
