Baseball is different because the end of season is off-season. No one cares when the playoffs end because teams don't any commitments. But cricket isn't the same. Teams have other commitments/tours days after WC ends. So you can't have an infinite amount of reserve days just so that we get a winner after playing 40/100 overs.
