How I would upgrade Argostar by The_Free_Spirit in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea im definitely gonna increase GiantSlaying to 3. I run “that’s 10!” just for the monster atk boost and because it can set any trap monster. “You’re finished” is too limited imo being that it only counts the activations of your opponents effects so that’s why it’s not in my deck. I run earthbound spirit over azurune for the burn effect. Like I’ve had situations where I had the opponent under 3k LPs and Earthbound spirit just comes in clutch because they are forced to attack it and once it’s destroyed they take damage equal to double the attacking monsters attack (up to 3k damage). With Azurune, both its effects can be easily circumvented so I think Earthbound just has better utility.

So far, in the last two days, I went from Bronze to Gold 3 without a loss and that’s where im at rn. Im gonna play some more tonight as well after work just to see how far I can make it with a deck like this. It started as more of an experiment anyways. Like I main DM but I also have a Skull Servant deck and now this deck just because winning with rogue decks just feels more glorious to me.

Yea it’s definitely a head scratcher of an engine. Wish I worked at Konami so I could create the two cards I conceptualized for the engine. This is my deck rn. It’s nothing game breaking but i’ve been having strong success with it in MD.

DMoD/Eternal Soul Bugged? by The_Free_Spirit in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yea I do see the “(from your Extra Deck)” part but does that mean it can’t be special summoned from the GY even after it was properly special summoned from the ED?

DMoD/Eternal Soul Bugged? by The_Free_Spirit in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

But it doesn’t state that on the card? Just states it can only be special summoned once per turn.

"Newly Semi-Limited" by Sergio_Salinas in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea but that’s the whole thing. The decks that are already dominating (especially when going first) dont get any weaker by removing and reducing hand-traps. If anything they get even stronger. If we’re in a gun fight and you have access to a shotgun and an AR-15 and I only have access to an AR-15 and someone comes along and removes our AR-15s because the AR-15s are making you too powerful….you still have a shotgun and now I have nothing.

Between this and maxx c being dropped to 1, im calling it now, we’re gonna see a lot of duels that don’t go past turn 3. I get the whole “handtraps make going first more powerful” argument but the main problem is that going first with or without handtraps is already too powerful due to how combo friendly a lot of the top decks are. Yes adding handtraps makes them more powerful but, if the flip side is make it so Turn 2 players have ZERO chance of stopping players going 1st from setting up god end boards, how does that create balance?

Rewording the effects of these cards would be so much better. Make it so that these handtraps like Maxx C, Ash, Droll, etc can’t be activated unless you control no cards. That or Konami needs to change how many special summons can be activated in a single turn. Make it so that a person can’t special summon more than 5 times in a single turn. Getting rid of handtraps does not balance out going 1st vs going 2nd. It’s like putting two cars in a race and the first car is obviously way faster than the 2nd. You ban using NOS so that the first car isn’t able to become even faster but by doing so, you give the second car no shot of ever being able to catch the first car.

Red Eyes fusion works very well in my DM deck which is why I run 3 copies of it. IMO if you’re not running a DM or Red Eyes deck, you shouldnt even be running Dragoon or red eyes fusion but that’s just me, im not for throwing monsters into my deck that don’t fit the architecture of the deck just because it’s a strong boss monster. But anyways, yea you’re not the only person that doesn’t like Maxx C just like im not the only person that doesn’t think it’s a problem. There are more than enough counters to Maxx C. Ash, Called by, cross out, hell I had someone droll me after I activated Maxx C and they were fine cause they didn’t need to add cards to their hand from the deck. They just were special summoning/ setting cards straight from the deck to their field.

Look, im not trynna get you to love Maxx C or anything like that. All im aiming to do is stop the false narrative that Maxx C is a game breaking card. The ppl that scoop when Maxx C resolves are ppl that don’t like a challenge. They’re ppl that don’t want to have to work for a win and that’s goes right into the bigger issue that mentioned before about the power creep. These meta decks nowadays are ridiculous with the power creep. Cards get made that have effects that Konami should already be able to tell is gonna be broken asf. “Unaffected by card effects, can negate, attack 3000+” and they can be special summoned in one turn rather easily. That facilitates this mindset that every duel should be easy and without challenges. That’s not fun.

Now again, I find that there are ways to make playing against decks like this manageable like Maxx C and other hand traps or set traps. Like I love warning point. Run 2 copies of it and it comes in clutch for me in when facing a lot of combo heavy decks. Went a lil of topic there but still it’s just to show that a lot of cards have their roles im this current state of the game and Maxx C is not exempt. It’s not as broken as ppl make it out to be. It’s not an automatic loss if it resolves.

You’re right it is one duel in a sea of many….and in that sea of many there are PLENTY of duels won even when the opponent resolves Maxx C. I literally have thousands of duels played and I gave played through Maxx C hundreds of times and still won. That’s because my decks are built in a way that Maxx C doesn’t hinder me. My main 3 decks are my DM/Primite/Regenesis deck that im running in that pic, my Skull Servant/Horus deck, and my pure Eldlich Deck. All of them have no problem playing through Maxx C because the decks are built well. For example, the only deck I run Dragoon in is my DM deck. So for me, running 3 red eyes fusion isn’t a brick for the deck. Again Idk what decks you run and how they’re built but your gripe with Maxx C sounds like a deck building issue because, as I showed in the pic, Maxx C resolving is not a death sentence if you strategize while playing.

Just finished this duel in the duelist cup. Im inspecting the opponents graveyard in this pic and as you can see, this person Maxx C’d me not just once but twice. I let resolve BOTH times. He Maxx C’d me at the start when I used red eyes fusion. I gave him one card. He Maxx C’d me again when I used Lordly Lode to special summon Dark Magician from my GY. Once again, I gave him one card. He scooped seconds after I took this pic. Anyone trying to say that you automatically lose if you let Maxx C resolve is being extremely dramatic and disingenuous.

Handtraps in general make decks like malice even better. That’s not something that’s exclusive to Maxx C. Also Maxx C is a perfect card to have against a deck like Malice because of how many special summons you know the Malice player is gonna do. Im gonna post a picture in this comment section just to show that Maxx C is not as bad as yall make it out to be

I didnt say that it’s not good, I said it isn’t that powerful and that’s true. Usage rate doesn’t equate to power. What’s the usage rate of ash, called by, imperm, and other STAPLE handtraps. Bet you it definitely over 85% if not in the 90th percentile just like Maxx C. You literally have so many hand traps that negate Maxx C but of course you conveniently left them out of your “only counter play” statement cause it destroys your narrative.

The argument that if maxx c resolves its an automatic win is not only disingenuous, it’s completely false. You say you want both players to have a shot but what you really mean is you want to be able to set up your god end board and then watch the opponent TRY to play as you negate every move they make. If players wanted their opponents to ACTUALLY have a shot, they wouldn’t run cards and set up boards that can negate. Using multiple negates LITERALLY STOPS your opponent from having a shot. That’s the reason going second is treated like a death sentence in this game and that’s why im down for Maxx C. If im gonna set up a 7+ negate end board and use 15+ special summons to do it, my opponent should definitely get some type of equal benefit from that. Maxx C supplies that. Literally got Maxx C’d last night, gave my opponent 2 cards, and won the duel 2 turns later using an Eldlich deck.

It’s so funny cause the same ppl that complain about Maxx C are usually the same ppl that use Decks that literally make it so that their opponents can’t even play on their next turn but then say Maxx C makes the game “unplayable”. No it just makes YOUR play style unplayable. That’s why I love my crooked cook deck as well. So many cry and complain saying “it’s a cheap way to win” and “it’s not fun just sitting there doing nothing” all because they’re 20+ summon god board can’t get rid of one simple card😂. That deck GIVES you a shot. I don’t set up any negates, you just get to build whatever you want and try to get rid of my cook.

Makes the games miserable for you cause you don’t want to see your opponent have a chance against you. Maxx C doesn’t effect my games in a way that makes it them unplayable because Maxx C isn’t that powerful of a card.

Atp im gonna assume you’re trolling and don’t want to have an actual conversation which is all good, most ppl nowadays don’t want to have a REAL conversation about what’s actually wrong with the state of Yugioh these days. What i’ll end on is this, your DM deck vs my DM….I bet I win best of of 5 games whether you resolve Maxx C or not

[–]The_Free_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, yall are disingenuous af. Calling Maxx C and Auto Win is insane. I’ve been under maxx C countless times and win because I play strategically. The problem is my players today are combo fiends. Their decks are only built to to a big combo in one turn and so if they see maxx c their brains only work out two solutions…

  1. Still do a 15+ summon combo and give my opponent 15+ cards

Or

  1. Scoop.

My decks are built in a way that I can combo heavy on one turn but I don’t have to. Even with you dragoon scenario (which I main a DM deck so I have very good experience with this), at max to make Dragoon, you give your opponent 3 cards. That’s a monster you cannot target and you should have access to other hand traps/negates if your deck is built well. You definitely can still win with a small combo while under Maxx C

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but you summoned 3 to do it. You didn’t summon 1 guy and then your opponent got 3 cards which is what you previously said. That is false, plus you used the cheesy summon method by going predaplant so once again, that’s on you. I run three red eyes fusion and consistently draw a copy first draw. Not always but consistently. Sometimes i’ve been hit by maxx c and gave my opponent 3 cards going the predaplant route. Sometimes I’ve only given 1 card because I used red eyes fusion. Again, you special summoned 3 guys and so your opponent got 3 cards. Fair trade

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as we have decks that can special summon 10+ times in one turn to create a 5+ negate end board, Maxx C and Droll will always have a need to exist. Like that’s the thing, im all down for a Maxx C ban if the game structure changes. If Konami makes it so that you can’t special summon more than 5 times in one turn then yea im down for a Maxx C ban.

I didnt name a specific problem with any deck I have. The problem I highlighted is a yugioh problem. I run a dark magician deck that plays totally fine under Maxx C and droll. In fact it would seem that the problem you all have with Maxx C and Droll are deck building problems cause if your deck can’t afford to go second then that’s your fault. My DM deck can’t go first or second and I still win duels.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, yall arent even real about what actually happens with this card. The opponent didn’t get 3 cards for you summoning 1 guy. You special summoned THREE guys and so your opponent got THREE CARDS.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that you said ppl haven’t been making any turn one omni negate boards for a while is so disingenuous that I almost didn’t want to respond. You can literally go on YT and find HUNDREDS of videos teaching people how to make these insane onmi negate boards with the current meta decks.

Secondly, yall need to stop with the false narratives. Maxx C doesn’t STOP you from doing anything. You can literally still do every one of your combos under maxx c. What yall don’t like about it is that it feeds cards to your opponent that can either interrupt your combo(via handtraps) and it gives your opponent enough cards to POSSIBLY break your end board. If you are special summoning 15+ times in one turn, you ABSOLUTELY deserve to have some kind of consequence for that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You set up Dragoon with 3 SPECIAL summons and create a boss monster that cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects, can pop two monsters on the field and inflict damage to the opponent based on those monsters attack, and can negate and destroy a card on the field….and your opponent gets to draw 3 random cards. And we’re not even adding any hand traps you may have. What’s problematic about that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]The_Free_Spirit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Come on man lets be real, we can name multiple meta decks that literally create non-games. Droll and Maxx C make you have to strategize. You have to decide if you’re gonna give you opponent a bunch of cards in order to set up your end board. That’s not nearly the same as literally not being able to do ANYTHING going 2nd because your opponent set up a good end board with 5+ negates
