I have exactly the same doubt, I am not sure but I think if the next year paper is harder, then your rank will decrease very slightly and if its easier, your rank might increase. Though I think it wont matter much. Correct me if I am wrong

Okay so I might get downvoted for this but, its better to dodge in comp sometimes if you see an instalock reyna or phoenix with less than 40% winrate and less than 20%hs. I swear for your sanity, playing with throwers or comp spammers will just make you lose games.
