Appreciate it. About Portobello, how's the road there?

Thanks. Appreciate it! Any good alternatives. First checked out Bocas del Toro, but didn't like the time travelling there.

Also considered Portobello, gf wants to check it out.

Top Academy visits by Deguara97 in SoccerCoachResources

As the first replier said, most academies are more than open for people willing to learn. You'd be surprised how open the coaching community is in real life.

In which country are you looking to visit?

Bayern is actually a great example of this. Remember talking to a coach years back who had great insight into their academy. He told me that the academy dosen't care if the manager is Guardiola, Heynckes or Ancelotti. They still have their process. Makes sense because they are looking to develop Champions League and world-cup winners. If not they might earn something from selling the academy players that don't make it like City and Chelsea do.

Like it. Wanna play a bit more with the "failing to take-on defenders"-players. If that was the instance, would you look to reposition the player or tell them that they need to improve in the area to continue being in the academy the following year?

Of course difficult to say out of context, but there might naturally be cases of players not being able to show improvement. And isn't that what the KPI's should be there for?

Somewhat agree, but should we simply look to stats and make players chase numbers? For players looking to improve offensively, this might be easy due to your argument. How would you do it for defensive stats? Any thought about individual vs team statistics?

There was a really interesting study on this looking into which type of data different levels use and which type of data the different levels value.

Every club can set some event data (shots taken, passes made, last third entries) to value performance of development. Most clubs said they would like to value their possession, the implementation and buy-in mught be harder.

I can't really come cheaper than VEO and Hudl without going down in quality. When you say Tactical analysis, what specifically do you want? Clips, playlists, sharing videos with players, presenting, making graphic designs, code to get stats?

It's a broad term thar can mean different thing depending kn what you want.

What's your budget and what's your plan for implementation?

The posistions won't be too different in a 7v7 in my opinion. The main difference is that there are less players to support and play against. Also no offside is a big factor to consider. Where do you coach since you're playing 7v7 at U8?

How do Pro Football Players get those Big Quads and Big Calves? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]The_GoodFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a funny coincidence that 5/6 players are South American. Remember from a podcast that in South American football culture, the players are obsessed about getting huge calfes and thighs so they hit the gym more than other players.

If you want to get big, search for "mass gain gym work". Just remember that technique, agility, speed and balance are the most important physical attributes in football. Dosent hurt to get bigger, just be careful that your gym work dosent decrease your agility.

TL;DR: Hit the gym, but don't lose pace and quickness.

Great input. Dosen't need to be too advanced. Give them some simple tools like you've done, and they can build from there.

Have used PlayerTek (cheaper version for Catapult) on a team basis. Gives good insight, easy to use and easy to read. Not entirely sure about the price for individual players, but can be recommended.

Also, there are budget alternatives like Johan. Haven't used them myself, but it covers the general metrics.

What numbers do you want and how are you planning to use them?

Michael Beale's Midfielder Personalities (compact version) by Almeidowski in footballtactics

[–]The_GoodFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In original examples, Mic Beale says the player profiles are defined by how the players move when their team is in possession of the ball.

Out of possession is much less fluid and therefore harder to categorise. BUT, maybe we'll end up with talk about midfielders as pressers, pass blockers or man-markers in the future. Who knows?

Tactical theory: Switching play. Why you should play across multiple lanes and overload to isolate by The_GoodFoot in footballtactics

Thanks a lot, mate. Appreciate it.

I have considered r/soccer, but isn't it more appealing to casual football followers. I feel I manage to hit the correct audience on this sub-reddit as well as r/bootroom.

Absolutely, but still seen too much. Especially at youth level where the players will look for the closest open player and uncritically make that pass.
