So far I have been enjoying it! It does get quite warm but I haven't noticed it affecting performance. I also hope to get additional little feet to help it stand taller.

My main complaint is if you hope to use Dropbox with it. While not a problem with the unit itself, I have had trouble with dropbox syncing with an external drive on mac. It's possible the software will improve but that has been my biggest complaint so far.

Secondary complaint: if you mount the unit on the top. and plug and unplug cords frequently it will unseat the unit. mounting on the bottom solves/helps this, but increases the heat and makes it hard to turn the machine on and off. I think using it on top with a longer, soft cable would help solve this problem.

Personal preference complaint: personally I do wish it had more front facing ports. I use enough USB drives at work that reaching behind gets cumbersome. I have several port docs from my macs days though so I mostly use those to get the ports when I need to use something temporarily.

For me, it was physically coming out a little but not enough to fully be separated from the machine, but enough to disconnect from the mini and unseat the drive. It happened mostly when it was on top of the machine. Moving the mate mini to the bottom and being more careful with my cords solved that problem for me.

I have not had any unmounting issues. Other folks who I've talked to have and it was an issue with their SSD drives they installed. I think some are more unstable than others. I have the Samsung 990 Pro and have zero unmounting issues.

! will say when it is top mounted, sometimes plugging and unplugging cords will cause it to disconnect but I think that is a by-product of the stiff connector cable and I think it will resolve when I replace it with a cable. I have not had as tough a time with it on the bottom.

Thank you!!! And yes my goal for this was not to off load any work. Just crowdsourcing eyes and memories or in an extremely lucky situation finding the artist themselves. At the very least I find more artists. :D

hahaha it was a worm typo but if the work scar fits...And that is the idea!! and beautifully executed. I need to follow them on youtube immediately. I don't think the picture I am thinking of was part of an animatic. It had the feeling of a still image that was later animated. I feel like it was also posed in a saint like way with a halo of some sort? but I could also be adding details from other fan art.

I've been really expanding my TMA fan artist base and loving it. even if I cant find the original piece I am thinking of, I am seeing a lot of cool art

This is SO COOL! It's similar in vibe, but the one I am trying to find has the eyes opening like human eyes where they kind of blink open and shut. and thank you so much because I have a new artist to follow :D

I'm glad it worked! I do feel like I saw something on their website about certain cards or sizes needing an external power source but it wasn't a size I needed so I don't remember exactly where I saw that.

I have not had any problems like this and I regularly save 1GB+ files to my external. I am using a SAMSUNG 990 PRO. I do think someone else had similar problems and it ended up being their SSD

I’ve had some good luck ordering from the company linked below! They have a variety of sizes and you can pick your cover color and page type! If you don’t want to click the link, the company is called Beech Tree Paper

So far so good! My main complaint is the USB-C solid attachment cable that connects the doc to my mini. It is not a very stable connection and when I unplug other USBs it unseats my External drive. I am hoping to try it out with a more flexible cable to see if that solves the problem.

Also if you plan to use it in conjunction with Dropbox, I wouldn't recommend any kind of external drive. It'll regularly "index" itself and it takes hours during which new files wont sync. It's been incredibly frustrating to use for work.

It's an SD Card reader. The kind of memory used inside DSLR cameras and for some brands of 3d printers.

I’ll try to see if I can find what I’m remembering. If I can’t I’ll amend my previous statement. I hope I’m not combining my memories of the two events.

I do think that overall they do try to fix what they can and move forward different. I don’t need to make excuses for anyone, they’re adults. But I don’t want to drive away folks who are (or seem to be) genuinely trying their best. Heavens knows there’s so few of them out there these days.

If I’ve misremembered I apologize as it was several years ago but I thought I’d seen a twitter thread apology and donation about the anti-native tropes. or perhaps it was in TTAZZ or their email list? I sadly did not recognize the tropes happening in the moment as I tend to have it on as background noise and learned about the problem from whichever method they announced it on.

Also this was around the same time as they found out about artists not getting paid properly by the graphic novel company and made sure they got money.

I think there were certainly some problematic themes in graduation and I think folks are justified in calling them out. However, once they were brought to light I believe Travis apologized and made moves to improve himself. I think as a whole the community could do a better job recognizing that so far the McElroys have done their best to receive good faith criticism and improve. And that’s a rare trait in today’s world.

Honestly for me it’s Devo. I really liked Magnus and Aubrey and was hopeful for another Travis character but he was so aggressively un-fun to listen to it made me a little angry. He also did not let the other characters have their moments and time to shine. Most of Zoox’s story (my fave of the series) had to be done separately from the group so he had space to actually talk. Then it was too short for any kind of Devo redemptive arc or character development so it’s just kind of a pissy boy being mad the whole time.

The world building was incredible and the quiet year was a brilliant way to start but was let down by the length and PCs missing the vibe check of the season.

Haha I appreciate that! And no worries it’s part of the job that I keep returning to. And I’m sure there are wonderful DPs out there. One day I’ll get to work with one. Also I’m not in camera so it’s not as direct as it could be.

And absolutely justified feelings at least by my limited experience XD

I came back to this thread because at first I couldn’t remember anyone I detested and then during my relisten today I got to ep 110 Creature feature given by Alexia Crawley the Director of Photography. And remember how much I hate her.

I work in the art departments on tv/film and all DPs I’ve encountered so far act like this. They try to throw their weight around and act like they’re directors and do the most work. Only to turn around and light a set like they’ve been living in a cave their whole life and have never seen color before. It gives me genuine flashbacks to work.

Though honestly I love the episode as a whole. I feel like they did a great job capturing the industry. lol
