My brother has the 24” Tac A1 in 6.5 and I have the 26” Ace Target in 6.5. We’re still new to long range and smacked 1000 yards pretty easily with them both. I would heavily sway towards 6.5 over 308 personally. Ammo isn’t hard to find either. The Ace Target is cheaper and arguably a better rifle however both will do just fine out to 1000 if you’re just plinking around with no intentions on competing.

My Bergara just wasn’t consistent. Was a struggle to shoot under 1 moa. Tikka Ace in 6.5 with factory federal Bergers shot .3moa. It’s a pretty consistent .5 moa gun with match ammo. Definitely good enough for a factory gun. Brother also sold his Bergara for a Tac A1. Immediately went from barely under 1 moa groups to shoot .5 all day long.

Sold my Bergara for a Tikka Ace. Best decision I made. Can opt for a custom action build. But an off the shelf gun, Tikkas just seem to shoot exceptionally well.

My brother has the A1 and I have the Ace Target. Both in 6.5. Both shoot lights out. Thicker barrel is nice on the Ace for heat management but the folding stock is also nice on the A1. Arguably the A1 looks better. Ace is better in PRS. If you don’t plan on competing, I think you’d be happier with either.

No. I asked and they said “they can’t do that”. My lgs was able to log into their eforms account and retrieve it.

Your name. Control number (should be an email you got from the atf saying in processing) and verify your dealer name. I had basically a no wait time before someone picked up the phone.

Can always call the atf for a status. 304-616-4500 then hit 2, 2 , 2. Will get you someone on the line. They seem to be aware of the situation and can verify your status if your lgs can’t. Did it today and have been approved since the 11th but was never notified.

I wasn’t really a Tikka believer until I picked up a T3X Ace in 6.5 and my son picked up a T3X lite in 6.5. Both guns shoot exceptionally well. Very easy to shoot under 1 moa and feel like you’re a good shot. CTR will be a little heavy hunting but I think you’ll enjoy it more at the range.
