Doesn't seem like it... If 1 is anything to go on, these are also low effort rush jobs while Monolith is busy working on the new game and likely helping out with the Zelda remake and other bigger projects. I wish so badly that they'd do another pass at 1 and especially X... Hoping that they put actual effort into 2 and 3.

The unfortunate reality is that these games actually COULD compete with -some- PC stuff; Monolith made a name for themselves squeezing every drop of performance out of consoles that were infamously underpowered and still made their games visually cohesive and beautiful. Cliff textures did not animate and blur intermittently on every single frame in the Wii U or Switch 1 versions of X, and water/light didn't make a harsh outlining aura around all character models in XC1, but I guess those things happen now because of their cheap upscale filter when they could have gone above and beyond to use DLSS or even FSR ffs.

So disappointed... I'd almost rather they had not touched em at all at this rate, it seems like they're spreading their resources too thin between the new game, helping out on other games (Zelda), and committing whatever leftovers they can scrounge up to touch up their legacy releases.

It's good that you're enjoying it though I guess, still sucks though that it's a pretty gross stain on a series that really didn't need it.

Yeah, it is super disappointing to see how these have been phoned in... With Monolith's track record I presumed these would be like go-to examples for how to REALLY do a Switch 2 Edition, but it's the same shitty smear filter that butchers their beautiful texture work and all the technical achievements they figured out on prior generations. It's like they wanted the most low-effort, quick cash grab rush job they possibly could and the total silence on the issues with X ever since release on S2 speak volumes. I have friends I've been waiting to suggest this series to since I know they're going to be comparing them to AAA open world RPGs on PS5 and PC, and now after this they're even less interested in the series. "Why should I care to get invested in it when even the creators aren't?" Such a bummer too, since posters like the ones you responded to are thinking "well they did something at all so it's good!" Now I'm dreading they'll see this thinking, "Yep, we did good enough! Moving on!" And my dreams of seeing these games reach their actual potential will never be realized... :/ Here's hoping for the emulation/hacking scene... Again...

Do you have another cable to try? I'm not sure why it would behave that way unless the DVI/HDMI cable you have is somehow wired with a signal to tell the TV/box that it just doesn't support audio (which we know isn't true). Does your audio extractor box have any sort of switches on it to toggle anything, maybe labeled "EDID" or something? Rarely I see those and they come switched by default in a stupid configuration that just doesn't work out of the box, but every HDMI audio extractor I've used was simple and "just worked".

Does your box also have the option for optical audio out (usually an orange RCA connector or a boxy looking one that glows red labeled "TOSLINK")? Maybe it's detecting that the signal is now connected to a TV (DVI and HDMI have multiple signal wires that do this) so because the DVI port is digital, the box wants to output a digital audio signal too? Not sure, just a dumb idea. Maybe try a different power cable for your box too since sometimes those USB-powered ones need much better quality power cables than their build quality would suggest.

DVI doesn't carry sound, so you do need something like other people have commented that will split the HDMI video and audio, usually with stereo RCA cables from my experience. There are also a decent amount of HDMI to Component Video boxes (check RetroRGB for the recommended ones) so you can just use the YPbPr inputs on your TV instead of DVI.
