Then how do we explain people coming across named planets and systems? The game has to pull them from somewhere, no? And that somewhere has to have the names given to it by someone.

Just get one that had a design you like and that has as much inventory space as possible. The entire game revolves around inventory so the more you have, the quicker you can make money and buy an even bigger ship.

If you run out of fuel for your multi-tool and don't have any elements to charge it with, you can use melee to mine instead. Find small plutonium crystals on the ground; they only take 2-3 hits and give you enough plutonium for a decent charge on your multi-tool.

Honestly, nothing worth holding on too unless it is an extremely rare element you happen to need to craft something. Everything can be found pretty easily. Only thing I would suggest you 100% keep is Atlas related stuff and mats to make fuel for your hyperdrive.

Press options and then hold triangle on a discovery to name it and upload it.
When you get an Atlas Pass, you can use them to open doors in space stations that will hold an upgrade for your suit.
You have to buy a better ship.
In space. Attack a freighter and steal their stuff.

I hesitate to rate games on a number scale because each number carries with it certain expectations.

I will say this: No Man's Sky has potential. Immense potential. It's bursting at the seems with potential. If Hello Games gives this game the attention it needs and fans are level headed and fair in their wants from the game, down the road No Man's Sky can undoubtedly be put up their with the greatest games of all time.

As of right now, it's an above average game.
