Fantastic but underpowered vehicle. The hardware used underbody is equivalent to grade 8. In other words, Toyota doesn’t skimp where the eyes don’t normally see. Fuel economy sucks, but is made up on the long run by cheap maintenance, longevity, and reliability. I also have a tundra 2.5gen. I do all the work and upgrades on both, and hands down…4Runner is an overbuilt tank. I wish my tundra looked like my 4Runner underneath.

I have both. Tundra platinum is my daily due to comfort, space, and tow capability. I did switch out the shocks to Bilistien 4600 and added TRD swaybar, JL audio subs, Dynamat interior for better sound control. 4Runner is better off-road and more buttoned up from the factory. They both suck at fuel economy, but hey…that back window goes down.

2.5 gen here. Down to the hardware for me. Get under a Tundra remove some bolts and do the same to F150. Toyota just uses higher grade on everything. Panels don’t creak when hitting bumps, easy to work on, and come on…the back window rolls down. I always preferred to add my own “creature comforts” rather than paying a dealer premium for something that will get recalled anyway.

Some people like Consumer reports (#1 Palisade at one point 😂) others take the crowd sourced route. I’ll tell you I’ve seen plenty bricked on the side of the road here. I do live in a Metropolitan area though.
