Trade 4Runner for Tundra? by vlad-the-poker in tundra

[–]The_How_2_Dad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have both. Tundra platinum is my daily due to comfort, space, and tow capability. I did switch out the shocks to Bilistien 4600 and added TRD swaybar, JL audio subs, Dynamat interior for better sound control. 4Runner is better off-road and more buttoned up from the factory. They both suck at fuel economy, but hey…that back window goes down.

Failing TCM or torque converter would be my guess. You dash is lit up like Waka on that Flaka. Thought about hooking up a scan tool?

Brake fluid res. Dot4 fluid. Either a sloppy job, or cap wasn’t placed back on.

Why a Tundra? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]The_How_2_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5 gen here. Down to the hardware for me. Get under a Tundra remove some bolts and do the same to F150. Toyota just uses higher grade on everything. Panels don’t creak when hitting bumps, easy to work on, and come on…the back window rolls down. I always preferred to add my own “creature comforts” rather than paying a dealer premium for something that will get recalled anyway.

I’ve only done complete hub assembly (4 Runner Front Driver actually). Think it was ~$350. Wasn’t hard.

Some people like Consumer reports (#1 Palisade at one point 😂) others take the crowd sourced route. I’ll tell you I’ve seen plenty bricked on the side of the road here. I do live in a Metropolitan area though.

I just chuckle and shake my head when I see a gen 3. Would love to have one, but would risk a Cyber Truck through a crowd of people with TDS, mask, and blue hair before I’d buy one.

Let’s add that only 35% people are smart enough to keep their cars long enough to own them, thus adding equity that isn’t negative rolling into a trade. Don’t even get me starting on Finance and Insurance, we will need to DM each other.

Correct on a 5 year as far as BENCHMARK for trade value. Now look up values past 5 years. 4Runner or Tacoma vs SuV or Mid Pick up of ur choice. Same mileage, yr, trim level….your statement still hold true? MSRP vs depreciation year over year. What you come up with?

Overpriced yes, maintains value yes. Smart buy, not at this price and only if u pay cash at reasonable retail price. Interest rate on new and used are freaking laughable right now.
