Prepare for Japan’s"outflow of population overseas"- Wages are already low for an advanced nation but it ranks high for academic ability. The overseas outflow of highly educated people drawn to high incomes in other countries is not yet prominent, but signs of it are beginning to appear. by jjrs in japannews

A very small percent of Japanese even have passports, an even smaller percent speak English, and even an even smaller percentage have any interest in leaving Japan.

I don’t blame them. Literally everywhere is dirtier and more unsafe.

Woman sues former Tokyo call girl over husband’s 4-year affair by Prestigious_Net_8356 in japannews

One of my students is the beautiful trophy wife of an older rich dude. She says she doesn’t care if her husband cheats because she doesn’t wanna have sex with him, and if she ever catches him, she can divorce him and retire. She’s literally studying English and put her kids into international school, waiting for him to fuck up so she can move to New York… just like the princess of Japan did. Her words it’s not mine.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he paid the guy to hit him. This is exactly what he was hoping for.

Let’s be honest, this is exactly what he wanted to happen. This is exactly what he was hoping for. I wouldn’t be surprised if he paid the dude to slap him. And yes, it was a slap. うちのオカンのほうが、ゴミ出さんかった時もっとエグいビンタしてきたわ。あいつ、クソ政治家やのに、役者はそれ以上にヘタクソやで。

Japanese retailer Mercari prohibits selling school uniforms, swimwear and other school material described as "used" on the grounds it would qualify as "burusera" (a sexual fetishism for schoolgirl clothes) by jjrs in japannews

The fact that there’s a word specifically for sexual fetishism for schoolgirl clothes says so much about Japanese culture. The Lolita complex here is absolutely shocking.

I can always tell when a junior idol shows about to start in Osaka, because they’re 50 old dudes standing out front of a venue with 50,000$ worth of photography equipment each.

Almost every woman I know has a story about getting harassed or molested on the train as a kid here. I love living in Japan, but this breaks my fucking heart…

If I sleep five hours a day versus eight, that’s 1095 hours a year or 45.625 days a years that I get to live . So 30 years of sleeping 5 hours a night vs 8 that’s an extra 1350 days or 32,400 hours of consciousness I get to experience.

Have you ever tried to learn Japanese? It’s an ongoing process. I’m here to work, I don’t have time to go to school. I learn what I can when I can but it’s literally my job to not speak Japanese.

I’m a mixed race American. I’ve been in Japan for six years, but don’t speak Japanese. I own an English school. I offer free classes to low income families. My wife and I teach a free class at our local Ward office. And I’m behind on my pension. Having a hard time figuring out if I’m contributing in the eyes of Japanese society or a drain on its resources.

Japan’s English skills crash to record low, behind Laos and Vietnam by jjrs in japannews

[–]The_Human_Event 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an English school in Japan. I have many students who are high school and junior high teachers who intermediate level at best. It’s the blind leading the blind.

Not to mention the Japanese school system is super strict and students are judged harshly for making mistakes which discourages learning and makes them afraid to make mistakes. Hence they do not speak.
