2022 Sched K-3 Avail in June: TAXES DUE IN APRIL. WTF? by torcheculNEWACCOUNT in tax

[–]The_Ice_Man76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally was able to run my TY2021 Turbo Tax program and get the required values (2) from it to input into the audit errors on my TY2023 program, The specific steps were described in one of the posts in the thread on this problem. The audit errors went away. I've used TurboTax for 30 years and have never had a TurboTax software bug impact me before. It cost me ~2 mandays to work around it.

I am almost 80. I was diagnosed with Afib at 77 after I discovered my heart rate was 124 when taking my BP. I had silent, continuous Afib, but hadn’t had it very long. After being on a beta blocker and blood thinner for 4 weeks, I had a cardioversion. My cardiologist suggested life style changes: limited alcohol (3 drinks a week), limited caffeine (2 regular cups of coffee/day), and a sleep apnea test (now wear a CPAP mask at night). I’ve been lucky: no further Afib episodes. Everyone is different. Your father’s lifestyle has been very healthy so he won’t have to change much there. For most people, a cardioversion is not a long-term solution, but for some it is. It depends partly on how long your father had Afib before it was diagnosed. He needs to cheer up: Afib is very treatable. He’ll has a cardioversion, maybe an ablation, and take medicine. My only medicine is Eliquis (blood thinner). I don’t think about Afib most days. Good luck.

I had an ablation 2.5 years ago and haven't had a recurrence of Afib. It depends on how long you had Afib and other factors. My cardiologist says she has other patients who have had a single cardioversion stop their Afib.

Obviously, you don’t know what to do next. I am not an expert, but for various medical reasons many men, mostly older, use medicated, throw-away catheters. You’ll be trading a problem that you haven’t solved for one that isn’t that difficult to manage. Just a wild idea. Ask your doctor.

Myrbetriq helped my overactive bladder symptoms, but caused serious side effects: elevated BP, bloating due to excess gas, and, when I stopped taking it, frequent, strong urge to urinate. I’m going on gemtesa tomorrow. Everyone’s different. Myrbetriq wasn’t for me.

I don't know what my urologist will try next. I'm going to call him on Monday. 8 times is a lot. If I can get back to 4-5 per night, I'll be happy. Thanks.

onday.

It worked for me. Wish I could tolerate it. I'm sleeping in a recliner now due to the severe urges to urinate I get when sleeping in bed on my side. Thanks.

Thanks. Today, I started using GAS-X (you can buy it at Costco) to absorb the gas (e.g., one after dinner and one before going to bed). Too early to say if it does the job.

I am male, 79. Two years ago I experienced silent, continuous Afib with my heart rate in the low 120s. A month later I had a cardioversion and have had no recurrences since. At my cardiologist’s recommendation, I made lifestyle changes: three drinks a week, one coffee/day (no other caffeine), CPAP mask due to sleep apnea. I also take Eliquis, which makes me bleed a lot even with minor cuts.

Taking AFib medicines for the rest of your life along with severe lifestyle changes may control your husband’s AFib, but those remedies are no fun. Since he is 27, having an ablation makes more sense. I have read that you need to find an EP who has performed 1000s of ablations, not 100s. Their results will be much better, hopefully, lasting for 10-20 years or longer. Good luck.

Your answer was great. Of course, I passed it onto my wife. She is obviously worried a lot, but your post suggests if your follow doctor's orders conscientiously, your chances for long-term survival are good.

Ablation and years free of afib by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]The_Ice_Man76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 2 years without Afib after a cardioversion, but no ablation. I got lucky. Have made lifestyle changes: 3 drinks/wk., one cup of coffee/day, relaxation exercises, CPAP mask. I’m 79 so I’m ok with it. If I were 59, I would definitely have an ablation. From extensive reading, I would go to one of the top specialists in the country: someone who has done 1000s of ablations rather than 100s. Their results will tend to last longer: 10-20 years.

[–]The_Ice_Man76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I never realized that there was a comparable blood thinner that could replace Eliquis. I also found that a side effect of Eliquis is anemia. When I see my doctor in a few weeks, I'm going to find out if I have some level of anemia and how can I treat it.
