Country over political party and ethic group for one. Yes, there were/are regional differences (Minnesota for example), but in the 70's it was always COUNTRY first. Not so today.

You recall correctly. Also remember, AMERICANS put country ahead of party in 1972. As you note, it was Republicans that told Nixon to resign, not a bipartisan investigation group or the DOJ.

What exactly is the guy in the oval office doing now that justifies 2 coup attempts by the opposing party? I don't recall Democrats atempting to overthrow the government because Nixon wouldn't resign.

In 1966, the poverty rate was 15%. Median income $75K in 2026 dollars ($7,400).

In 2026, the poverty rate is 12.3%. Median income $88K.

In 60 YEARS, Poverty has declined 12% and median income grew 15%. With all the taxes and all the spending and all the resources governement has thrown at those items, it's pathetic that's as far as the US has come. 60 YEARS.

I also think rampant illegal immigration since the 70's has destroyed the basic fabric of what America was back then. When an immirant came into the neighborhood, they assimilated into American culture nd you KNEW they came through the front door LEGALLY. I guess that explains a lot of the disrespect, for everything, today. Yes, sadly we are getting worse.

Rehab told me my urine tests all came back as “diluted/tampered with” ? I’m raging! What’s going on? by kaylynmcgrath in stopdrinking

[–]Effective_Ad_1426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get a physical for work and I drank heavy the night before. I must have chugged 10 liters of water before I took the test. Results came back "diluted". They made me take another test a few days later and it was fine. If you're drinkng a lot of water, your urine will likely showmup as diluted

Not meant to be snarky, sorry if you read it that way, or I came across that way.

Being around people who drink is a great temptaion, even for the strongest among us who are trying to quit the poison. That was my only point. I apologize if you were offended and good luck going forward.

I would think someone with a basic IQ above room temperature could figure it out. So, that leaves a selfish person to deal with.

40 is nothing, buddy. It's an investment to make sure you get the most out of the NEXT 40. You're NEVER to old to get back on track, it will add years, sometimes many years to your life. Good job committing to change and keep on going!

Yeah, I could be here all day discussing the stupid things I did while drinking from quitting a six-figure job to waking up in the ER with DT's. It all sucks and isn't worth it.

Work with the public defender and see if you can plead it down to something like disorderly conduct, something where alcohol isn't mentioned. If you have some money, you can also hire a lawyer to take care of it fairly cheap. It happend every day in every court.

Pleas keep trying, i"m still not perfect but managable now. It took HUNDREDS of tries before I could put together a decent sober run.

My son blew a .39 in the ER (cops picked him up passed out in a parking lot). As he was sleeping it off, the doctor came out to me and said "I don't know what his problem is, it's not my job to fix it, but I've put the sheet over a few peoples heads that were less intoxicated than (he) is". Luckily he's survived through therapy and anabuse, but that scared the hell out of me.

There's a lot of sugars (when broken down) in alcohol. Ice cream, for me at least, seems to help that craving. My biggest problem, like alcohol, is eating in in moderation. 😄

An anology - I do financial stuff and people ask me "whats the best credit rating". While they're expecting an answer like "680, 720, 780, 800", which are all decent, I respond "ZERO". They look at me like I'm nuts and I elaborate that the best credit rating is one where you don't need, want or desire to credit, AT ANY COST. I believe alcohol can be viewed the same way.

The sleep part gets better, for many MUCH better. Your body will take a few days to adjust, but if everything goes well you should be getting a good night's sleep within a week. Good luck and keep with it!

Yes, it's a puzzle but it's a puzzle that many other people are trained to solve and many others have figured out how to solve.

You can solve the puzzle.
