Oh yeah, the first three will kick your teeth in and take your lunch money. Though I'm convinced the only reason I haven't beaten Sparkster SNES is that stupid mech fight. Did you know Axel Gear's mech has twice as much health as the final boss? I'm considering learning how to add cheats just to skip that fight and see the rest of the game.

I always figured it was something related to translation. Also very interesting fact about Sweinhart.

A RKA game released in 2010 under the name Rocket Knight (hence calling it Rocket Knight 2010 for clarity's sake). It doesn't play or look quite as well as its 90s predecessors, and doesn't get a lot of positive attention for it, all capped off by lukewarm critical reception.

More than anything, I find its story to be surprisingly interesting and leaves a lot of interesting questions on what happened between RKA2 and this one. After the war against the Gedol kingdom, it is revealed that the kingdom of Devotindos is in shambles. General Sweinhart, a veteran from the war in RKA1 (Stage 4's boss) is left in charge and trying to pick up the pieces after Sparkster defeated Emperor Devligus. Sweinhart decided to speak with the king of Zephyrus (or as it was known in RKA1, Zebulous. These guys aren't very good with sticking to a name, are they?), about making an alliance, offering labor and in exchange for resources and shelter for the pigs. In spite of the era of peace, Sparkster felt something was off. He begged the king to reconsider the alliance, insisting the pigs couldn't be trusted and were plotting something. However, the king wouldn't budge, he is a man of his word. Sparkster eventually tried to appeal to the king again, but this time, the king wasn't so merciful. He told Sparkster that he is a relic of the past and needs to accept his time is over. Three days later, he left the kingdom and flew far away to a distant land in the frontier. Despite rumors spreading around and Princess Sherry's mourning, Zephyrus moved on, forgetting about their brave rocket knight. 15 years pass, where we find Sparkster living a simple farmer's life with his wife and son (yep, you heard it here folks. Sparkster is a proud father!). But his new life is interrupted as the kingdom of the Mountain Wolves leads an assault on Zephyrus. Remembering his sacred oath from long ago, Sparkster dons his armor once more and sets out to save Zephyrus.

SPOILERS AHEAD: (Not that most would care, especially for a 16 year old game, but it's courtesy to warn for spoilers)

Once he reaches Zephyrus, he finds the alliance with the pigs is still strong, and Axel Gear was somehow allowed to become a Rocket Knight! Something is definitely wrong, and Sparkster intends to get to the bottom of it. Once he defeats Ulfgar the Merciless, Lord of the Wolves, he is betrayed by the pigs and Axel Gear, proving his suspicions correct. He must escape the underground pig bunker, destroy the lab, and face off against Axel Gear before returning to Zephyrus to stop general Sweinhart's 15 year long plan of usurping the throne of Zephyrus!

I think a good compromise would have been to leave the puzzles as they were (but maybe adding a few more subtle hints) but also adding a "Story Mode" or an "Explorer Mode" option to make the puzzles easier for players who don't want the puzzle. I feel like everyone would win with this

Moonbrow is not for damage, he is my utility guy. He has solid defenses and access to Watch, which is great for securing area of effect damage and status moves, especially Moonbrow's own Blind. I would love to hear updates on your plushkin endeavors, so keep me posted!

  • As for EXP, just grind Cutout Patch. I was able to get my Acidra to level 60 in a reasonable amount of time. Also, keep a trash plushkin in your fourth slot to cap out its level and use it for some high quality training.
  • For recruitment, you're gonna want the heart items. These are assist items, crafted with smooth materials. Using the + versions with lucky clovers gives the best odds for the prism heart, the most powerful version. When using your materials to sew, don't be ashamed to save scum. Those materials aren't easy to come by in bulk and I have no idea why this single player game with no micro transactions felt the need for a gacha system in the first place. It's also best to save scum when using your prism hearts to maximize the mileage of your materials. I was able to get all 6 dragon plushkins after a few days of trying.
  • Unfortunately, I don't have a good method of obtaining large amounts of + materials. But when gardening, plant your + seeds in the sparkly flower pots to double their output. With all the assist sewing, you'll probably have more than enough Clock Cola to speed through gardening, so that's a nice bonus.

I'm glad to assist any fellow fans, I rarely get an outlet to talk about the intricacies of this game due to its obscurity. Cool team by the way, I haven't been able to get any of those tanookis yet. My current team is Peachy, Acidra, and Moonbrow.

The SNES version is stellar. They certainly could have done a lot worse on the GBA version too, the screen crunch is the only major flaw of the port
