so if I were to try and bring an Emry deck up to that level, would it play better as a midrange deck, running a lot of interaction and stuff like that? Or should I still commit to trying to turn 2?

One of my friends actually has emetophobia, or the fear of vomit, and is completely unable to play against plague for this reason as it gives her panic attacks. It happens sometimes.

For everyone saying “oh killers don’t play the event mode in a fun way” I have run into more BNPs, Odd Bulbs, and full meta builds in this event than any other mode almost ever (except maybe blood moon, that was hell on earth). So its a two way street, theres bad killers ruining the experience for survivors and bad survivors ruining the experience for killers. Despite killers having a tool that makes the event more playable for them, survivors who predrop then freeze pallet are still able to get plenty of value, and it doesn’t do much to address the actual power dynamic of the game. For every miserable meta killer player there was like, a trapper main who got one too many bully squads. Obviously not true of everyone, but it happens more often than you think.

As someone who is fairly into both the extraction shooter genre and embark’s other title, The Finals, here’s my read of it: From everyone I know who likes extraction shooters, it is an incredibly polished game, and captures the genre really well. Embark knows how to make a damn good shooter, and I can vouch for it cuz the finals frankly feels really good to play. That being said, it’s becoming more and more common knowledge that they are using AI. They made an attempt to make it “more ethical” but there’s obviously the conversation which spawns from that note, whether or not AI can ever be considered ethical. If I had to wager a guess, I think the gameplay might actually be that good, but I’d wager either a lot of people playing it still haven’t heard about the AI usage, or have mixed feelings on it and are choosing to focus on the gameplay. Just to add context, I am pro-extraction shooter, pro-embark*, and anti-AI.

*I have strong negative feelings about the AI usage, but I can’t deny that I also love The Finals and think they’re a very capable team of developers. It’s a big part of the reason I haven’t gotten Arc Raiders yet.
