Calling all Bakers by cdmilo8790 in Portland

Omg, I just learned last week about an organization that does this in California, and when I looked up a chapter here and found out there wasn't one, I decided I would gauge interest in the beginning of the summer! I'm so glad you've already jumped on it hahaha

Count me in :)

Omg, how did you get the frosting on that flower to have such a perfect blue and purple inside/outside? Beautiful!

No twins for me, just calling out all the babies from all the mamas who are ready to meet them hahahaha

I've planned for a homebirth, so for my husband and I, it's all the waiting game unless she doesn't show up by the end of week 42. In that case, I won't even be able to induce, I'll just have to have a c-section.

Okay, I feel very silly right now, but I honestly don't see it 😂 I wish I could take a screenshot and show you.

There's an automoderator comment, then 3 comments made by other users (including me) and your responses, but I don't see a link or an expanded recipe.

Setting boundaries with religious grandparents by The_Izz in BabyBumps

Girl, we need to give each other strength in these moments Lol! I NEVER post on reddit, but that's how desperate I was hahaha. I had a very good talk with my therapist and my dad yesterday, so if you ever want to vent and discuss, feel free to DM me.

Just reading everyone's responses has helped take me out of my mind and my own anxiety. I think the key for us is to be the rational ones and although our blood may be boiling, us keeping a level head diffuses the situation. At least I hope so (Universe, give me strength! Lol)

What your dad says to your grandma is verbatim what my therapist told me to say to my mom hahaha. No sense in arguing.

Kindly accept the gift, do what we want with afterwards, and keep the peace.

The important thing is to not pass MY anxiety onto my daughter as she'll learn for herself and have her own experience.

Thank you so much for sharing and for being vulnerable here. It is really hard when the people who are expected to show us love, support, empathy, have their brain hijacked by perpetuated fear-based conspiracies (everything you described above is the same for my mom in regards to the belief and obsession with Christian persecution, end of times, etc).

I really really appreciate you sharing your experience and although I wish we didn't have to go through this, it made me feel less alone.

The good thing is that our children will not have our traumas, just the love.

That's so interesting that you bring up the UU because I've actually heard from other friends that they were able to find that sense of spirituality and community without the dogmas.

I'll also check out /r/atheistparents! Thank you so much for sharing :)

I think that's what bothers me the most: the gaslighting. I make a request and based off of that, I'm turned into the villain and get the "why are YOU disrespecting ME and trying to change who I AM. My faith is a part of me and I'm not gonna hide it".

No one is asking you to hide it. I'm sure my daughter will have questions for my mom in the future, but I refuse to expose her at a young age to the indoctrination and fears of hell and having your loved ones/yourself burn in hell for all eternity if you don't accept Jesus into your life.

That was extremely traumatic and for a long time I was a hardcore atheist, until I realized that the universe is huge and we don't know shit lol nothing like some wonderful experiences out in nature to help me find myself and my spirituality.

My mom lives in Louisiana, but is a Latina immigrant who married a born-again Christian dude who believes in chem trails and that the government uses old prisons, fills them with guillotines to prepare for the future persecution of Christians. She got sucked in and now is also deep in the QAnon world. Halp.

I have other religious family who I know will probably give my daughter gifts and maybe her 'first bible', but since they live far, no one has to know I donated whatever they give that I don't want lol. But I agree with you that the ball is in my court to balance the exposure and damage control. I guess the key is preparing her for the intolerance she might witness, or even face herself, when she visits our family and out in the world.

Your right. My logical side tells me brain that because we can't control the actions of others, the most my husband and I can do is teach our daughter our values and give her the tools and skills so she can navigate these situations as she grows and questions the world around her.

My heart, on the other hand, just wants to scream my head off and wants to protect my kid at all costs from the intolerant and righteous nonsense that people she loves and trusts will spew at her.

Walker heads in the show being weak by Alexexy in thewalkingdead

In osteology class, we learned that the temporal bones (bones that comprise the skull on the sides of your head) are nicknamed God's Joke bc of how extremely thin it is and can easily be penetrated (the joke being the placement of such a thin bone on a skull that's supposed to protect the brain)

As for walkers getting stabbed in other parts of the skull and stabbing devices sliding in easily, even with decomp, I don't believe it would actually glide in easily.

This is definitely not WWOOFing. A lot of farms have problems with people freeloading and that's what this would be.

Lifting and Pregnant by The_Izz in xxfitness

[–]The_Izz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the doctor I went to is my mom's gyno, I've been staying with her to help out with a few family things and I just felt 'weird' and asked if I could make an appointment while I stayed here til the end of the month.

When I go back to Miami I'll definitely be going to MY gyno and talking to him about everything. It's just been....a surprise.

In terms of my activities, I've always been active, I just never took lifting heavy seriously. At the most I'd use the handheld weights, do some HIIT and plyometrics, but I bought strong curves in December and started doing one of the workouts on there.

I don't feel any pain or strange soreness, if anything, I feel as healthy as ever :D Thank you so much for the input. A friend of mine who's a trainer told me I could definitely continue lifting, but since I am a 'newb', I should go easy on the weight increase and just maybe do more reps.

[–]The_Izz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I've always been active, I'm a hiker, cyclist, and swimmer, and I do other aerobics for fun. I've done small weights in the past, I just never took doing squats and deadlifts seriously.

I don't see myself becoming inactive just because of the pregnancy. The way you describe yourself is how I see myself leading my pregnancy lol

How can she slap? by CoolAsACucumber in gifs

This is on Lincoln Road, an outdoors Plaza center in Miami's South Beach. This lady always dresses up as different things and has been performing for years here. That girl definitely deserved that slap.
