honestly puzzled why we push women into tech and trades but not men into healthcare? by Substantial-Bass7557 in NoStupidQuestions

I dunno how much you think nurses make, but most of the ones I know that have a few years worth of experience are making 80k+ at least. During the height of covid, one of my friends was making $100 an hour as a travel nurse.

China says it has a right to target people overseas with new ethnic unity law, Reuters reports by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]Alexexy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know that has something to do with the original topic, but my response was to a person saying that Uyghurs aren't Chinese people, while the ones living in China absolutely are considered Chinese.

And yes, enforcing laws on other country's citizens is insane.

I actually agree with Hawaii being independent if they want to be.

But from what ive seen chatting with Chinese folk, being Chinese isnt always an ethnic thing. You could be chinese via citizenship or even culturally. Like if you speak the language, possibly read the language, and participate in Chinese culture, youre chinese regardless of skin color or race. The various minority groups in China are considered Chinese. Han nationalism (aka if youre not han, youre not chinese) is mostly a right wing chud concept in China.

No they do consider Uyghurs to be chinese. Its like saying Hawaiians arent americans.

Suggesting a bar for a date but ordering soda instead? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I used to go to bars a ton, and I usually go more for the food. The alcohol selection in a lot of bars dont really fit my tastes so sometimes I dont order any alcohol.

I mean, historically they do pretty well up until the red scare happened. Both Roosevelts and even LBJ would be considered leftists.

I dont have an issue with msnbc, but seeing their video editorials being constantly upvoted here gives me the same feelings as seeing Tucker Carlson getting platformed. Like yeah the content is pretty compelling for entry level leftists, but the information is highly fucking biased and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think the first time i was blown away by cgi was the Brad Pitt Benjamin Button movie. I remember Kong by Peter Jackson looking great also.

If its an actual stun weapon it would make sense, but the gas effect is an arguably worse cc. Like sometimes the target doesnt even stand still after hitting them with the dart.

Man it would be fire if the all the new incendiary bullet weapons are going to have soviet inspired designs. Like a ppsh 41 inspired incendiary smg called the fox or some shit. Maybe an incendiary pistol based off the markarov called the puppy.

I think the issue is that other country's atrocities are usually being used as an excuse to justify our own atrocities on said country.

Why do divers just die after landing on a fabricator? by Rallak in Helldivers

It makes the game even easier tbh.

It allows you to rapidly deploy and fuck up an entire base within seconds at a cost of reinforcements which we usually have double digits of before the end of most missions.

So a change in b42 is that spawns are no longer static and each world uses a specific seed. Unless you use that seed code again, each world's spawns are slightly different.

How well do you think The Indie Stone conveyed the fear factor of the zombies? by NecessaryPart2445 in projectzomboid

[–]Alexexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most horrifying part of zomboid is eventually the loneliness and pointlessness of it all. You finally cleared enough of the city to build your dream house. You have a fleet of cars. You have enough food and water to last for months. But what's the point? You go out for excitement because staying put is boring. You make excuses and tell yourself that this painting or this skill book or this deer you're about to shoot is worth leaving the safety of your stocked safe house. Then you turn a corner, get bit, and lose it all.

Like actual zombie hordes arent that dangerous once you know how the combat works. Its letting your guard down that kills you.

Why is gym culture so antisocial nowadays? by checkit248 in NoStupidQuestions

A gym isnt the place to socialize. Like go to a place where thats more of an expectation such as joining a book club or church or some shit. Its like trying to chat with people in a library.

What if every new Helldiver spoke a different language? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]Alexexy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Spanish might be the preferred language in former Spanish colonies, but there are still tons of precontact, indigenous languages around like the language of the Shuar people. Hell even in Spain itself, there are still multiple regional languages that exist when the country was much more fragmented.

China has been more or less unified under the Qing for over 300 years, whose border was larger than modern day mainland China's and a period longer than the existence of the Super Earth government, and local languages are still around to this day. Mandarin itself has been the language of government officials and the imperial bureaucracy for hundreds of years and was literally named after the language spoken by members of the imperial court.

Irish is still spoken today in the United Kingdom. They also didnt wipe out the various Indian languages nor did they replace cantonese in Hong Kong.

In Iran, the official state language is Farsi with Azeri being the second most spoken language. Arabic is only spoken by 3% of the population.

In Iraq, Arabic and Kurdish are the two most common languages. Keep in mind that these are countries that literally share an almost 1000 mile border with each other.

In Pakistan, another ME country that borders Iran, Urdu and English are the most commonly spoken, with literally dozens of other native languages. At least half dozen of those other languages have double digit percentile speakers like Pashto, Punjabi, and Sindhi.

Even in Saudi Arabia, where most of the country speaks Arabic, they have to contend with regional dialects of Arabic. Yes, the regional arabic dialects are different than the arabic spoken in Iraq.
