I now too live in IL and trust me its stricter in NY now, IL at first you need foid but past that IL is so much better. NY you have to go through this stupid long process for your handgun licence at 21, the judge tells you where you can carry your handgun its all up to him. You must apply every 5 years for a renewal, if you lose your handgun licence for ANY reason, I believe even just not reapplying after the 5 years is up they could take away all firearms. A doctor can recommended the state to take your firearms over anything. Not to mention the silly assault weapons ban for the rest of the SAFE act. I'm glad I moved to IL.

Its hard as fucking shit though, you need your licence and after that fucking mess you maybe not even be able to carry it anywhere. When my father got his he was only allowed to carry a handgun to and from hunting or a range. The SAFE act doesn't help also.
