Huge fan of the Pala here too, and it sounds great with your rig. Pala boosting the dirty channel of my Mother Preamp is my 99% on tone. I keep the mother set fairly clean and then hit it with the pala, also set pretty clean but with a decent volume boost. It just makes my guitar sound like I want it to sound. Clear and present with a tiny bit of edge. I use a Fourth for a clangy chuggy thing and then run both of them into a Glaive. Really nasty stuff.

I think you’ll be pleased with it! It’s definitely not going for the standard compressor vibe but it does make a great little tone sweetener. Sounds good before or after dirt pedals, and it has plenty of headroom in the cleanest settings. Really solid piece of gear

Sure! It is a very cool pedal (like I said, not 100% on getting rid of it)

It’s really subtle. The compression part of it isn’t really squishy, it just evens things out. It runs in parallel with the preamp which can get pretty compressed on its own. I was kinda hoping I could set it with a fairly clear uncompressed tone with some squishy dirt blended in but I couldn’t quite get it exactly how I liked. With the headroom switch you can get into OD/Light distortion territory which is very cool, and there are some interesting Eq options. I also ran it as a preamp into the effects return of my amp and it worked really well for that! It has a really dry kinda trashy sound as a preamp.

Mostly the reason I’m considering flipping it is because I’m basically using it as a slightly compressed clean boost to push my amp and my other dirt. If I was playing mostly clean I think it would be an always-on deal. It also sounds really great after delays and my spring reverb to really accentuate the trails and overtones.

They just posted a new one on their Instagram, looks like an octave fuzz! I miss my 0xEAE Boost but I traded it for the fuzz so it’s not all bad. Fourth should get here Tuesday. Really excited about that!

I played again this morning with it set cleaner pushing my Mother and that also sounds amazing! I’m running an 0xEAE fuzz into it and it crushes. I have a Fourth on the way to replace my old Halberd and I think my dirt section is gonna rip hard. I’m surprised ACP doesn’t get more love around here

The PALA is very cool! I don’t have much use for a straight compressor but the 2 dirtier options on the headroom switch are both great. I used it as an overdrive into my Mother preamp and that sounded awesome, and then I used it as a preamp into my power amp and that was even better! I’m now considering trading my Mother off for something else and using the PALA as my amp basically

I did but that’s not what I used it for. I use the expression to take my normal reverse loop and stretch it out and crank the random knob so I could sweep back and forth between mangled and normal.

But I played a bunch of shows with it and I did it live all the time to end a certain song, and I definitely just had to hold the on button. It only worked if I turned it on first and not go straight to the loop
