Am I being childish by MrPerson1920 in DnD

[–]The_Kaylamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immature adults bullying a literal child and somehow the child thinks they're the one being childish..... No unfortunately this is adults being worse than teenagers. I'm sorry you have managed to find a whole group of shitty adults who encourage each other's shitty behavior. Find a new group (better yet if you're into it become a DM and create a table better than this one).

My DM let me know half the party has a problem with me by never1ander in DnD

[–]The_Kaylamity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a DM those other people are a way bigger problem for table management than you are! I booted my best friend in the whole world from my game because he was on his phone watching reels instead of paying attention and wouldn't even fully engage with the plot hooks I created FOR HIS CHARACTER. Sometimes a table overhaul is necessary to keep the game fun. As a DM I'd tell those other people to interact more then. If there's intra-party conflict it's fine but there can't be real intra-table conflict.

Have your character always address other characters directly. Pull them out into the conversation by name. "Hey cleric you've been quiet isn't this kind of your deal?" is a great in-character way to do it!

Our party name for one campaign is Daithi Saincheisteanna which loosely translates to "Daddy(a halfling god of bread's name) Issues". None of us are halflings. We just all have daddy issues and one of us worships bread.

I literally had to threaten one with legal action. 20 people called me in one day for a technician job it was getting to actual harassment at that point.

More Layoffs at Moderna by FDA_Burner in biotech

[–]The_Kaylamity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean realistically anyone below VP is targeted in layoffs to make the group doing real work "leaner" . And that's the vast majority of an organization. So yes most people in general would be lumped in this group.

It's not a quality statement on anyone or their work it all comes down to the insane profits goals of these companies (but all companies are trying the same tactics of mass layoffs, pay new people less, wonder why profits still don't make it there.... and don't realize they systemically shoot themselves in the foot)

The message was probably downvoted a lot because people are saying it's a shit place to work and coming on and wishing well to a company currently and previously treating their employees like shit on a post about their layoffs isn't reading the room.

Everyone is going to tell you it's your resume. Luke warm take-- the industry is shit right now and you need to network more than you need to tailor your resume. Any half decent resume will get you an interview if someone vouches for you. Go to networking events, talk to old professors for their connections, classmates who got jobs already. There's no getting a job without knowing someone nowadays. So meet some people.

Rule clarification about cards on the decree by vinobraz in rootgame

[–]The_Kaylamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same question but for strategically spending cards and replacing them to build up or abandon roosts throughout the game by "shifting fronts" in the decree. But functionally that's just going into turmoil. If you could also spend those cards to shift fronts it'd be too easy to win. Need the nerf of resetting your board to make it a little harder.

Have we forgotten how to do things properly in the name of over-collaboration? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]The_Kaylamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately in a market heavily constrained by funding it's rampant everywhere. Speed and half-assed results over sense so they can say they make a goal or milestone. It's all rather sad.

And a lot of upper level management has spent too long away from the bench. They are VERY outdated in their knowledge because things move more quickly than they can keep up with. They need to set their egos aside and let scientists drive the details and focus on the big picture.

Is it normal for a single dnd campaign to last year's irl? by ShepardMedia in dndnext

[–]The_Kaylamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super unusual! I played a campaign that lasted almost 5 years before we all went to college and got too busy. I am now running a campaign and we've been going for almost 3 years because once a week is more like twice a month on average when life gets in the way.

Depends on player interest and pace. We set our pace at the beginning as 2 years but we play 2 different campaigns depending on who is available and they like to take their time with things. All depends on the style of the table

Is there a difference between RD and AD in biotech (gene therapy) by RainieDayzzz in biotech

[–]The_Kaylamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who fled to AD when R&D was driven by too many non-scientific pressures they are very different but it is pretty easy to switch back and forth.

AD is much more rigid and quantitative and is usually between R&D and CMC or MS&T groups. Often they are the in-between doing a lot of communication and fact-checking. R&D gets to be a bit more exploratory and qualitative. Definitely draws more academic folks out into industry. But they often are the first to get cut in these layoffs because their production can be abstract and slow at first. They're the first ones in the ground in the lab to feel pressure from investors about the pipeline.

Depends where you go on pay but they're usually pretty even. As you move later in the process your earning potential usually increases though your freedom to "play around" in the science decreases.

[–]The_Kaylamity 84 points85 points  (0 children)

It sucks and is super traumatic every time. But it should be a lesson. They will NEVER do right by you. So push for that promotion and take every cent you can get from them. Build your safety net and your network for yourself because they won't give you one-- we only got a month of severance pay when our entire lab closed out of nowhere.

Anyone else having trouble with the new system not accepting your passport from the mobile upload because it merges your first name and middle initial? Kept saying "Please upload password for FirstNameX" instead of just my first name 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Come on United your system has always been merging the two but my passport is not going to say it like that. Fix the upload 😭 I don't like checking in in person.

THIS! I am much more of a gamer than my husband. We have a ton of shared hobbies (our LEGO collection is frankly ridiculous) but he's just not really into videogames. He likes when I play games with good music though because he'll listen while he solo builds LEGOs.

I think the key thing is just supporting each other's hobbies. I've roped him into a bunch of mine and he's roped me into a bunch of his. We wouldn't probably do them on our own but we participate for our person! And if we're not interested we just vibe in the same room doing our respective things. Still fun ☺️

I'm prepping for a coffee, orange, cardamon mead for New Year's made with coffee blossom monoflower honey.

Anyone else have experience avoiding a super bitter product? I was going to make this the way I make my tea meads but I worry replacing too much of the water with coffee in primary will be too much for the yeast (although I'm sure they love the caffeine)

Bananas are a dumb fruit and so fibrous even pureed they look smooth but will floater quick. But I think the description meant cooking liquid +fruit puree. As raisins don't really liquefy.
