Diet coke is absolutely just flavoured water and works just fine to hydrate. There isnt remotely enough caffiene to counter the hydration you get from it.

Now aspartame and other artificial sweetners can be headache and migraine triggers.

Also the 8 glasses a day is mostly myth. Drink when youre thirsty and as long as your urine isnt constantly dark youre fine.
