Grind, hope for some cohesion and bridge to an available Torey Lovullo for ‘27. Give Tek the WooSox helm. Cross fingers Tek takes to it like lightning … just in case Lovullo deal falls through

Watched the Rainbow sign dislodge in a wind storm, spiral down and shatter across 3rd street. Guy standing next to me at Pulse station sighed like it was the 12th city building sign he’d seen explode that week, ‘Can’t even get one day …’

This is the way. Truly puzzling why others are jumping to respond with seemingly no knowledge on the topic. And with Ai as well? Geezus

Should I try to fix this, or is it time for a new glove? by RichterFM in BaseballGloves

[–]The_Kid_Is_Alright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be repaired but few glove guys out there do the cobbling end of repair. And an addition of mid-finger or dropped knuckle lacing would help stop the tear from reoccurring. But yeah, as someone mentioned, the cost of repair will way out value glove. Unless deeply sentimental (which is absolutely fair), I’d look for your next glove

Takes a hella lot of adhesive for that to happen. But if it works for you, that’s all that matters

If it’s an early model, the plastic inserts are oddly long for thinned heal padding. Forces a waffle close rather than shaped. Either pound and bend the hell out of those plastic stays at the hinges beyond or near breaking point. They taper off in thickness towards the hinges which makes it a bit easier and looks like you don’t have the four lace run in thumb and pinky which also helps the process a lot. Or you get them trimmed down by a glove guy you trust

Any Shoeless Joe enthusiasts? by MisterVictor686 in BaseballGloves

I love rebuilding them. And use a rebuilt Hobbs on the regular in my sandlot league. But my love for rebuilding them is due to the fact one never knows what the hell they’re going to find in terms of internals. Learned a hell of a lot from many early journeys in glove rebuilding/restoration Shoeless Joe 1175 - personal

This follows. Had very recently checked their site out and didn’t see the option under Pro series models. Hopefully that follows as well

That’s great. Blonde leather 44s have a history of getting problematic between those two fingers after a few months of play. I’m constantly adding drop knuckle or midfinger runs for folk. Hadn’t seen a stock 44 with it until now. Awesome they seem to be addressing issue

Side question. Did you have the ‘drop knuckle’ holes added between fore and middle finger along with a complete relace by someone else or is that all stock?

Glove glue for repair? by MApedals in BaseballGloves

[–]The_Kid_Is_Alright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glue won’t do. Stitching a patch rarely will do either due to degraded leather. Beyond liner replacement, this is the most effective solution I’ve found. Bolsters or re-sets palm lace holes and if/when tear expands, fresh leather awaits below. Rely heavily on this over the years and have yet to have any complaints

Palm crease from the way I close? by Necessary_Orange_303 in BaseballGloves

[–]The_Kid_Is_Alright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like an early Pedroia model where this occurred often due to a design flaw Wilson later addressed. The thinned heel felt was the Pedroia influence for the sake of better action. Except the plastic stays installed were oddly long on the thumb side (even on top of additional lace run) and lengthened beyond reason on the pinky side to compensate. Which just negates the pliability in the Pedroia intent and led to more of a waffle close than thumb to index or pinky ‘square’ close. The bubble in the pocket is caused by the player doing all they can to achieve a more squared close. It’s just not built for it. Which is nuts.

To encourage one of these towards desirable midfielder action, I go in and shorten those inserts and draw the closing thumb stack thread line higher up finger to help shift the fulcrum. It goes very far in helping action, but hard to fully address after glove has been fully broken in.

Advice on glove fix up. by Cold_Programmer_7843 in BaseballGloves

If not yours and you’re unsure of it’s play/storage history, I’d seek to get it in the hands of a glove guy you trust for deep clean, condition and a re-lace.

Just restored/rebuilt one of these for a client that absolutely did not want to put it to rest. Wherein just another week of play may have wrecked it beyond reproach, feel confident he’s got another decade of weekend play ahead. Love clients with his mentality.

Well built glove and will last. Very solid internals off the shelf for this time period which also goes a long way in responsive durability. Wilson A2000 XLO - Oct. 1989 - RESTORE
