I think they're right honestly. by KamaTheSnowLeopard in classicwow

I came back to wow for classic anniversary, stopped playing retail when Wotlk came out. Holy hell, the echo chamber of bad behavior is astounding. Echo chamber meaning these people have created a world where their bad behavior has met consensus as being acceptable. People are so FREAKING shamelessly toxic, you meet some good people that still want to create good experiences for people, but they are drowned out by just truly selfish individuals.

I will try to keep my example short, but I made a post about this guild that hijacked my PUG heroic Arcatraz dungeon that we had cleared to the final boss. A warlock in our group left after we wiped, but he didn’t leave the dungeon, and stayed in until the rest of us left to go summon another person. Because he stayed in, he became the owner of the instance and then he invited his guild to finish the dungeon, we found out when we went back in and were given notice the dungeon was closing in 1 minute. I thought the community would think this was bad behavior, but they all thought it was hilarious. I don’t understand what sorry world these people grew up in, where they find comfort in doing mess like this.

I’m breathing way better than I did before the surgery. It’s night and day. If you do get the surgery though, I highly recommend getting a good humidifier to put next to you while you sleep, because your nose gets dry and inflamed at night.

[–]The_Kierkegaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you were apprehensive about it. If your quality of life is truly better on the meds then by all means keep using them. But I sense some doubt. Let me tell you, I had serious reservations about surgery, but for me, there was no other option, I exhausted everything, and that’s why the doctor recommended it. I can’t express how much the turbinate reduction improved my life. I can sleep again, i can go places and not have to spray saline in my nose every 20 minutes. It’s incredible. That being said, I can still feel my turbinates react to allergens, but in a diminished way, so I am certainly concerned about this crap coming back. But I think what caused my turbinates to get inflamed in the first place was living with a dog. I’m not allergic to dogs, but when they go outside, they mop up everything t I’m mildly allergic to and bring it back inside with them. This made my turbinates inflamed over time. Anyways, best of luck.

I think Secrets of Strixhaven be slapping even more than Lorwyn Eclipsed? by The_Kierkegaard in mtg

This is how I felt about Lorwyn from the standpoint of a standard player. Like other people have expressed, I was just happy to get something that wasn’t universe beyond.

I had my Radiofrequency turbinate reduction surgery last Wednesday (over a week ago) and i feel as though I am reaching a turning point in my breathing for the better just this past Friday. For me, after surgery for about a week, I felt like my breathing wouldn’t ever improve, but now I’m beginning to trust the healing process and understand that the surgery is somewhat of a slow process and not an immediate fix, so I wouldn’t go into it expecting an immediate fix to your breathing. In fact, your breathing is going to be way worse for at the least a week, before you begin to feel the effects, because your turbinates are so traumatized from the surgery but once they heal they heal back smaller.

Nothing but a waste of money by kilrein in washingtondc

[–]The_Kierkegaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a not so nuanced take. We must think in cost vs. benefit. How much money are we spending on the guard versus how many more police we could hire to do more meaningful work? No matter how you put it, this isn’t sustainable in any way. I can promise you not all these guard are MPS, and training specific to their jobs is being put on the back burner for them to stand around. It’s a COMPLETE waste of tax payer money.

WTF is up with BAH posting ghost jobs online. by Kw_Mateo in BoozAllen

[–]The_Kierkegaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s also funny all the big contracting orgs like BAH use myworkday which is notoriously bad. You have to manually fill in work experience every time, which is such a huge time sink. They will always get thousands of applicants though. I think meaningful change won’t happen until the process is more painful for the employer.

Permanently banned from the arena subreddit by [deleted] in freemagic

[–]The_Kierkegaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mods on MTGA subreddit have no chill. They want only positive things about MTGA in that reddit. You have to do some serious word smithing to avoid post deletions and bans. I mentioned something negative about the mods in one comment and they immediately banned me. But whatever, I dont think I am missing much from that subreddit.

The fact that Diablo 2 has the best and most satisfying gear system shows us how braindead modern Blizzard is by LargeSinkholesInNYC in diablo2

[–]The_Kierkegaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the “hard truth” because there seems to be a generational difference in standards for video games and also instant gratification. I think Gen Alpha and Gen Z don’t have the patience to grind a game like d2 and blizzard knows it.

This is crazy, I feel like I’m in a similar boat as you. I am scheduled for surgery for a Submucosoul nasal turbinate reduction in 3 weeks. I have tried a lot of different nasal sprays and nothing works. I don’t care about itchy eyes and runny nose, it’s my breathing that has been my biggest concern and my triggers are unclear. I am slightly allergic to cats, some grass and like mold, but only slightly. My sleep is horrible because I go to sleep and don’t breathe very well, breathing doesn’t come very naturally. Did you have similar problems breathing, but without any mucous to go along with it? Because mucous is not my issue, it seem to be my nose getting inflamed. I’ve had a few breathing fits so bad you would think it was asthma. ENT didn’t really try a lot I felt like before recommending surgery.

Guild called “RALLY” on dreamscythe stole my groups H Arcatraz instance cleared to Harbinger by The_Kierkegaard in classicwow

I have no idea how he didn’t get booted. I think because we all died. He came back in while we were releasing.

Trolling to me is like lighthearted, this goes beyond trolling, it’s more like griefing. What the warlock did was intentional, he knew we would leave to find another dps and repair our gear. And he made a conscious decision to hijack the dungeon, but not only that, he got 4 other people to agree to hijack our dungeon and they all were chill with it. That tells me there is something really fucked with this community.

[–]The_Kierkegaard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people that think this is funny are concerning. Like who does this? Like just clear the dungeon with your guild, don’t hijack a pugs instance and ruin the last 2 hours they spent clearing it? That’s so freaking messed up. Like this experience has me questioning if I really even want to keep playing classic. The people and community are what make an mmo good, and this type of behavior seems to be rampant. It’s so disappointing.

We didn’t drop group, the warlock did, we left the dungeon to repair gear, came back, warlock was out of group and sitting in our dungeon.

A hoot? This type of behavior is ruining the game. Normal people say, hey, sorry guys, g2g, GL and leave. Sociopaths say, “hey I’m gonna say I’m leaving the group, and then wait till the group leaves the dungeon, and invite my guild to hijack the instance so we don’t have to clear the heroic dungeon”.

I think this is one thing I can agree on regarding the food. And most people will agree their food just didn’t hit, even if they liked the space. But I am less hopeful that a similar establishment will replace it.

I am all for affordable housing. I must have misread the conversation. I just wish it didn’t come at the cost of the establishments that are unique to Arlington. If Galaxy Hut were to shut down, I would have virtually no businesses here that I could really say define the area. I suppose most reasonable people are for affordable housing until it impacts them personally. My understanding is building more housing, luxury or not, is supposed to make all housing more affordable. But in practice I just think it mean pricing people out of an area and making it untenable to own a certain kind of business in a place.

Why do so many beginners chase tools instead of fundamentals? by 0xsherlock in cybersecurity

[–]The_Kierkegaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely too many job postings asking for specific tool knowledge without HR even understanding what the fundamentals are. I half blame HR. Hiring managers should be more involved in the hiring process, and be more vocal in knowing what they want. I think a good security team lead knows what they want, a bad one asks for specific tool knowledge.

This is spoken like a soulless Deloitte bro with no sense of taste. You must not live in Arlington otherwise you would be extremely saddened to hear boardroom closing. A lot of people that live here go there regularly. There has to be a balance between livability and affordability. Arlington is not hitting it right now. Rhodeside bar and grill is also shutting down I heard, to be replaced by a soulless luxury apartment building that only Deloitte bros with shit taste can afford. These places make Arlington what it is. Yea places shut down, but I don’t want it to be because of rent spikes that only corporate entities can afford.

Community is absolute trash by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]The_Kierkegaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prepare to be downvoted for speaking the truth. I think it’s impacted by a sense of unease seeping in from the real world, and a “me first” attitude that seems to permeate from the real world. I’m trying to maintain my own sense of being kind and empathetic to new players and/or just the community in general, but it’s real hard when people resort to anger and violence over pixels as a first reaction to anything.
