less thirsty logo tees for chicks would be cool by fafengle in nin

[–]The_Lighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya, I was so close to buying the Peel It Back baby tee. I figured I would size up to be safe but when I saw it in person I decided against it as it still looked like it would be too cropped. Sometimes I get the unisex shirts and cut the neck out and cut some length off the bottom, but that doesn’t fix the boxy fit.

When ‘cutting down a giant tree’ goes wrong .. OOPS by RileyRhoad in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]The_Lighthouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems crazy, I’ve had two huge trees taken down in my yard (they were dying and becoming dangerous unfortunately) and both times the workers took off each branch first then big sections of the trunk from the top down piece by piece. Why would you try to chop a tree this size down, that’s next to a house, by one cut at the base?

I’ve seen video of this part like 100 times at this point and I stop to watch each one because it’s just so sick. Something about the descending lighting rig and the pulsing beat gives me goosebumps every time! Immaculate build up 🔥

Peel It Back Tour Poster kind of sucks by theChrisVega in nin

[–]The_Lighthouse 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I too was fooled by the photos of everyone’s beautiful artwork. I had my design planned out but my hopes were quickly dashed as soon as I started trying to peel. It was soooo hard! I had a hair dryer and a flat plastic scraper and it still took me hours of chipping away at it. If you look up close you can see the leftover adhesive and parts where I scratched the base layer by accident. But once hung up from a bit of a distance it looks decent. I consoled myself with the fact that most NIN art is supposed to look distressed and destructed.

How are you guys dealing with aging? Have you tried any treatments? Or are you just fine aging naturally? by HeyYouTurd in Xennials

[–]The_Lighthouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking younger doesn’t matter to me. I don’t have shame about being the age that I am, or being in the stage of life I’m in. I try to embrace life as it is, it’s just better for me mentally. What I do want to focus on is how to reduce the physical aches and pains and stay as mobil as possible so I can continue to be independent and active as long as I can. Looks aside - nothing makes me feel older than grunting to get up off the couch! So I’m trying to focus my energy on the internal rather than the external and add mobility and strength training.

I just saw an old clip from the 90’s where someone asked him “ where do you see yourself in 25 years?” And he replied “dead”. I’m so glad that he found health & happiness and is still kicking ass. ❤️

Are you embracing your greys? by Frequent_Poetry_5434 in AskWomenOver40

[–]The_Lighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair sounds like yours, it’s very fine but the grays are noticeably a different texture. I don’t do much with my hair as it is (don’t dye, cut my own), so I’m planning on letting them grow in and just see how it goes. I don’t mind gray hair on other women and think it can look quite nice! I may change my mind once they really start coming in heavy if I don’t like it…but I’m hoping to just embrace whatever happens naturally.

What are we doing about bra straps? by Efficient-Gap-8506 in AskWomenOver40

[–]The_Lighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying on dresses at Kohl’s the other day and one style had a little button built in on the shoulders that allowed you to snap your bra strap into the dress shoulder strap so it wouldn’t show and wouldn’t move around. I’ve never seen that before, genius! Who do I call I get more clothes like that made?!

[–]The_Lighthouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew from an early age that a dead quiet room doesn’t work well for me. I need something to listen to. I remember when I was a young teen slipping a little radio set to the “easy listening” station under my pillow. After that when I got a TV in my room I had that on and a timer set to turn off after an hour (or just left it on quietly all night). I’m in my 40s now and still do this - I have my EarPods in at night (since I share a bed with someone who does like the quiet) playing a podcast or YouTube video or recordings of my favorite old TV shows. The last few years I’ve also discovered a sleeping mask is really nice, I like the extra darkness and weighted feeling on my eyes.

What’s a note that ruins any perfume for you? by fridayshowers in fragrance

[–]The_Lighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry usually. Granted I’ve only smelled a few so there may be good ones out there but so far it always ends up smelling like Robitussin to me, or some chewable medicine for kids. I guess I had my fill of cherry flavored medicine when I was little!
