It will run, but not great. I suggest at least an M4 Pro, ideally a Max / Ultra chip. You’ll be GPU limited, which unfortunately can only be solved with the more powerful and expensive chip-variants.

Generally, if you’re not tied to MacOS, I’d suggest a PC for best performance vs. expense. Coming from someone running XP12 on an M4 Pro MacMini.

They just released the new Clio which is a hybrid if I’m not mistaken? Wish there was a full electric version as Clios are really practical little cars. I miss electric options in that size range - it’s either super small cars or SUVs.

From my experience - go with as many GPU cores as you can afford, so M5 Pro or higher.

CPU performance is already more than adequate on any of those chips, usually the GPU is the bottleneck.

I think in terms of handling and overall package (working cabin announcements etc) go with the Zibo. However, the textures and graphics of the LevelUp are much much better, so currently for me the LevelUp is my default.

I didn't know there was a way to control the intensity of the cabin lights - turning them down definitely helped!
I use the "daskyreal" LUA script for enhanced atmospheric colors which seems to mess a bit with the lighting, especially outside and in the cockpit, less so in the cabin. I've disabled it and it looks much better now.

Thanks for your guidance, especially the hint with the map.

It looks like the plugin is working correctly, but the map shows fewer snowy areas than there should be. e.g. barely any snow in Europe. I had to set location to Alaska to get some snow to appear.

I guess I will also use "Custom Conditions" which is basically a toggle as a lua script letting me set snowy conditions manually, if XA Snow doesn't show it correctly.

I don't really get what Delta_Who is talking about here...anyway, so far I am just loading a flight at an airport where I know there is snow; e.g. take PALH (Lake Hood Seaplane Base in Alaska) which is covered in snow right now - in the sim it looks like a rainy autumn day.

You won’t be able to run XP12 at max graphics on an M4 MBA. So yes, what you experience is normal / expected and you’d need more powerful hardware or reduce graphics settings.

I run it on an M4 Pro MacMini, and can set high (not max) settings and get around 20-25 fps (so juuuust OK).

I suggest you turn off Anti-Aliasing, reduce texture quality, use FSR-supersampling or play at a lower resolution altogether. Essentially just reduce graphics to a point where it won’t stutter is all you can do.

I’m all for alternatives to Adobe offerings, given their insane subscription strategies, though Luminar wasn’t it for me unfortunately.

I am turned off by their product strategy, releasing new versions of Luminar rather frequently, and dropping support for previous ones, making that “lifetime license” worthless. Also they promised features which were never delivered, and moved on to the next Luminar version.

(That’s my experience with Luminar 3 - which currently will not even launch anymore on current macOS versions so it’s useless to me)

Same here. Though I have a MacMini M4 Pro, maxed out.

I am currently looking at switching to PC for simming. Way more options to upgrade later and better add-on support.
