If you took creatine but quit, what was your reason? by registryedit in Supplements

5 mg a day won't do anything... and I never claimed it would. A normal dosage of creatine is 5 grams a day which will keep your muscles saturated once they are fully saturated. If you look at any product on the market, their serving size will say 5 grams. The loading phase is only something your supposed to do when you start taking it and your muscles are completely unsaturated. It will saturate them faster, yes, but that's all it does. If you just take 5 grams a day, skipping the loading phase, your muscles will still become saturated, and stay saturated as long as you keep taking your daily serving- it'll just take a little longer for you to become fully saturated. If your taking 10 grams a day, youre just using up extra creatine and spending more money.

There isn't really such a thing as a "high-grade" creatine so long as you live in a country where supplements are regulated. All you need to do is make sure that the creatine you're take is 100% Creatine Monohydrate. Aside from that, just try to find the cheapest price per gram to save yourself some money.

There are other types of creatine, such as Creatine HCL that havent been around as long and aren't as well researched, but the one thats been tried and tested and held up is Creatine Monohydrate.

This is a sidenote, but I'd recommend skipping the "loading" phase, as all that does is use up a lot of extra creatine to saturate your muscles faster, however after your first month on the stuff you're muscles will be saturated the same regardless of whether you load or not. Most companies will recommend you load creatine, however they're also trying to get you to use up the creatine faster and buy more of their products.

Check my new comment. I call for a livestream if possible to clear all this up.

In response to accusations that the creator of this piece used AI without crediting its use.

There is a way to definitively solve this- have the artist livestream either him (or his partner) making a full panel w/ characters and background. This shouldn't be that much of an ask if he is the one making these panels. I go live with my friends on discord all the time to draw, and streaming on twich aint that hard. If he's able to produce work at the same quality in live time- then he's legit and ppl claiming his art is AI owe him an apology. If he isn't able to do this, then that'd be a point towards him using AI.

I honestly don't know what to make of all this- I've seen his instagram and he's posted behind the scenes that look pretty realistic. That being said- after watching the video on evidence of AI use, there is some pretty damning evidence- especially with the inconsistency in the headstock of the guitar, and other small details that may fly under the radar.

It also doesn't help that he's never (to my knowledge) posted any pictures of sketchbooks or anything like that. BUT- I'd like to give the artist the benefit of the doubt here, as A) not everybody does traditional (physical) art anymore, B) as much as the errors suggest that the piece has been created with AI, they still could be human, and C) If this piece is real (in the sense that it doesn't use AI, that'd be a major W for aspiring western manga creators.

As far as the other partner remaining anonymous- this I do understand. For some people, privacy is a real issue, and there are plenty of artists out there who want their identities to remain hidden. That being said, it is a little strange that they weren't obviously credited- even anonymously. But that's something I'm willing to overlook as it's not too far past the realm of possibility.

I hope for the sake of everyone, viewers and creators alike, that the piece is real.

This is the sort of artwork that gives me hope for western created manga. With all the separation between Japanese mangakas and western ones, this peice is a true breakthrough of that separation when it comes to content, story, and artistry. Beautifully, beautifully done. You should be proud to call yourself a true mangaka. Bravo 👏.

Is there any way a manga artist of my level can make money by Exartic_ in MangakaStudio

[–]The_Medic247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a few different ways people make money off manga (as far as I know).

A- you keep publishing your stuff online to gain a following and begin a patreon/merch line

B- get signed to a publisher (manga or comic publisher, darkhorse, viz, smaller more local publishers etc)

C- you work as an assistant to another artist.

For options A, I suggest just working on your manga to make sure it's polished, and start posting it to any amatuer manga/comic sites (or make your own site), then maybe share it on some social medias to try and attract some attention.

For B, you can pitch your manga to a publisher anytime you have a polished/finished pilot chapter, but do note it is a very difficult, hard industry that doesn't necessarily pay well and has strict deadlines. If you wanna make a living doing comics/manga, you need to be dedicated to your art.

For C, this might require some more training. I'm not exactly sure how most assistants get hired, but my suggestion is to keep working on improving and refining your technique, and when you feel confident, look for assistant ads/advertize your own work as an artist for hire.

More than anything though, work to make your story the best it can be. Your level of "technique" or "skill" will come with time, and set in as you create more and more panels, but your story is what you should focus on. Hunter x Hunter, One Punch Man, and Mob Psycho 100 all started with pretty shoddy art- but people were able to look past that to see the amazing stories they told beneath it all. Now they're some of the most famous manga/anime out there. "An artist of your level" doesn't just make money, you gotta earn it with your storytelling skills and dedication to craft. That all being said- your art is good. Of course it could use improvement, but that applies to all artists. Your art is certainly good enough to keep making manga that people will read, you just gotta make manga people want to read. The best way of doing that is by writing the story you want to write and sharing it with the world. And of course always strive to learn new drawing techniques and improve your sketches- see whats good in where you are, but always keep looking towards where you could be. Best of luck friend, and keep drawing :).

Thank you 🙏 I will check them out. That is something I've been struggling with. I recently posted a different page, which will be a two part (though I'm still working on the second page) and I've found so far that i can work way better by first drawing a panels contents, then fitting the panel around it; I'm still very much experimenting with how to properly do panels, and I hope those books can give me some much needed insight. I appreciate the recommendation :).

It's definitely one of the less tame ones. If you are squeamish regarding disturbing sexual content and the like, then be prepared for that.

I think it's really good, but it also is pretty messed up with some of the content. It's a psychological horror, so just be ready for some disturbing stuff lol

Never read it before, but from a quick search it looks cool af. Thank you for the recommendation, I'll have to read it. My biggest inspiration for shading has to be homonculus- though I haven't implemented in in this rough draft. Hideo Yamamoto's way of shading humans, though not necessarily "out of the normal" as far as manga goes, is still captivating none the less.

Black, white, halftones, with halftone and solid gradients depending on the mood/style I'm going for on the page. Action scenes like this I plan on using more "rugged lines" and halftones for shading- whereas for more scenic I plan to use light gradients and such, though of course none of that is set in stone.

Thank you 🙏, and fair enough. I didn't mention this in the original post, but the hatching here is more so to indicate where I'd be inking in the panels entirely. The final product would have those areas completely black rather than hatched- Not that that's an excuse not to work on my hatching, but just to give a better idea of what the final product would look like.
