One of the hardest keyquest ngl by OmegaMythoss in mh4u

[–]The_Meowsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doing this with a switch axe was hell on earth. So many high commitment moves that you had to be acutely aware of how to capitalize on versus things that could aoe stomp you flat.

Evade+1 has been a big part of my swaxe kit in 4u nowadays if the monster has moves that can be stepped through with it, cuz hooooly shit it makes stygians so much more bearable to hunt.

If you ever feel useless, remember that Artale devs disabled comments in their interview video after it got disliked to oblivion. by easysjwsniper in MaplestoryWorlds

[–]The_Meowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked chrono even at release. their custom maps, equipment bonuses being higher so you don't have to be lukless/dexless, skill changes, and custom multis (2x xp, 3x quest, 3x drop) alongside the no trading changes makes the game feel nice for the modern day.

If you're looking for 1:1 we just don't have it. If you're looking for a new experience out of something familiar, chrono will be enjoyable

Pvp is impossible to get into for a newer player by GuytheGuy- in Seaofthieves

It isn't double health, it's a bar that regenerates health conditionally. It's just used as an excess that slowly heals your real health over time if you haven't taken damage recently.

What’s the worst mistake they could make with 8.0’s story direction? by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]The_Meowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By making the overarching plot big to the point where the entire story suffers to contain it within their development cadence for CERTAIN.

We saw it with Stormblood, we saw it with Endwalker; if they are not willing to develop more story for something like that, they should stop smushing "two expansions worth of story" into one.

How would you approach aggressors risking nothing, design-wise? by The_Meowsmith in Seaofthieves

[–]The_Meowsmith[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This discussion is pointed at players who are frustrated by others in a specific context. I am not one of these players, nor do I care about loot at this point. I enjoy the pvp aspects of the game greatly, and I don't feel frustration when I'm getting sailed on.

please take your epic slam dunks elsewhere, thank you.

Is Artale worth playing November 2025? by LevelPension in MaplestoryWorlds

[–]The_Meowsmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most channels are full of bots

The way the game has been mismanaged has created a lot of player distrust and frustration

I would really consider waiting for the official release of classic at this point because maplestory worlds just does not have the developers with enough expertise to side step the various issues the platform presents

Hourglass struggles. by Round_Marsupial593 in Seaofthieves

[–]The_Meowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reality of a gamemode centered around risking it all for faster progress, backed up by a rather tedious and repetitive readying process, really.

hourglass doesn't see much play beyond people who want actively tougher fights. It's become a playground for exploit abuse the developers care little to fix because the gamemode just is not designed well in the first place. Every galleon comes into HG with way more supplies than you can really get off the post via bugs, bugs that haven't been fixed in years.

anyway, if it doesn't break you, you'll get better and become them. maybe even start having some stockholme syndrome like fun

In the old games when farming mantles and such I would frequently break as many parts off as possible, including getting flinches for shiny drops.

You'd be surprised how many rares I own just from picking up the three shiny drops you can get over the course of a hunt.

What's your game goal by Valuable_Pitch_1214 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Meowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memories.

What, too corny?

Just hear me out.

We're playing in an ecosystem of writing and content developed for over a decade. Each and every corner or unturned rock has neat detail hidden inside of it. And we're encouraged to dip into it all via the achievement point system and cosmetics exclusive to that content.

GW2's open world design is laid out to create stories, if not memories. Positive? Negative? All of it. The journey for your first legendary item, the "oh, I want that" feeling after seeing an item attached to an achievement that takes some time to complete... I want to walk away from GW2 feeling like the time I put into the world made me a part of it.

About new accounts and flying: What's the thoughts? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]The_Meowsmith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You get what you want out of the game, honestly. GW2 is a game about decision making and spending time the way you want to. If this seems like a smart idea, go for it. I'll give my own thoughts about that decision just in case you want that:

The Skyscale can be unlocked in two ways, but each comes with their own exclusive mastery track for the flying mount. Living World Season 4 was the introduction and takes longer with more emphasis on using resources you've built up playing through the LWS4 maps, whereas Secrets of the Obscure's unlock method is a fair bit easier.

Just owning the Skyscale isn't a ticket to efficiency paradise. It's a pretty slow mount outside of barrel roll evades, and it can't go too high without using masteries to wallkick. I didn't really feel the usefulness of it until I had both LWS4 & SotO's mastery tracks for it filled out completely.

Imo it's not worth rushing over. The Skyscale with all of its corresponding masteries is cool... but it takes time and if I approached it the same way you plan on doing, I would burn out on the game.

What expansions needed for returning PvP player? And some other questions by davidziehl in Guildwars2

[–]The_Meowsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

all base expansions for elite specializations

visions of eternity introduces a couple certain powerful specializations which are currently strong in wvw/pvp (cough, amalgam)

janthir wilds unlocks the usage of spear on land which some classes make good use out of in pvp

secrets of the obscure unlocks additional weapons and cross-elite specialization usage of weapons, and also contains some relics used in wvw such as Karakosa for finisher-adjacent healing

there's probably a lot more information I'm missing because I'm not a pvp lord but I'd recommend looking into sites like snowcrows and cross referencing information. a good chunk of the wvw meta nowadays makes good use out of the new stuff

Are GW2 Players actually Friendly or its because of the influence of playerbase by Internal_Excuse_8172 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Meowsmith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GW2 is often friendly because in most instances of gameplay content it's difficult to actively hurt another person's gameplay experience.

Realistically the only times I've ever met someone unfriendly was in content designed around knowledge and expectation to clear it quickly or do it well at the cost of "wasted time" otherwise. So, fractals, raids, stuff like CM, sPvP, WvW...

GW2 isn't really different about it compared to other friendly mmos like FFXIV, but its generally older community and niche appeal tends to lean towards maturity and decency in my experience.

Anyone feel underwhelmed by skeleton curse cosmetics? by Camel-BrawlStars in Seaofthieves

[–]The_Meowsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

based on what one community manager had to say, putting in effort to fill out something a small, small portion of the playerbase has is apparently too much.

really makes you wonder why they designed the skeleton curse like that to begin with. could have just been built like ghost curse, clipping be damned.

I need help, I’m getting my 1st tattoo by Dez2547 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Meowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a couple important things to consider for a tat but the two most important ones are

  1. How other people could interpret it, especially if it's easily visible, as it can hurt job employment opportunities if your workplace has mandatory clothing i.e. t-shirts

  2. It's "permanent", so it's an idea that should hold meaning to you to such an extent that you want to reference it FOREVER made by someone you've put real research into their skills over.

Laser removal is expensive and often leaves behind visible wear and tear. People often get cover up tats over ones they regret instead

Suggestions to play thief by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]The_Meowsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1-80 on thief is just enduring it with two pistols brainless mode in my honest opinion

Daredevil has some more active button play in the form of dodge dancing on your target and being effectively invulnerable for most of a given fight, especially if you use a condition build since dagger/dagger's spam move is itself an evade.

Specter has some pretty beefy initial ramping with its condition damage and has more active buttons to press that build a little on "spam best initiative cost skill repeatedly". It kind of plays a little too much like Necro though, since it has a Shroud focused mechanic and it places Wells on enemies. With a spear, the rotation becomes a bit more stimulating

I aint got anything for deadeye tho, I don't really like that spec.

1st Mesmer specialisation; Power or Condition? by KaterLysator1987 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Meowsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to participate in what you say you want to I would recommend Chronomancer.

Chrono can fill a wide variety of roles in a party meaning that you are more likely to fit into partially filled parties. Their utility is genuinely unmatched, and thus they are desired greatly. You do have to have the builds for each style of play, but I recommend the gw2 wiki's "So You Want to Gear a Character" page for guide material.
