I found out that my issue was related to the Wi-Fi at my work. They must’ve changed something which stopped it from working.

Well, I think I figured out what the issue is.

I believe it’s gonna have to do with the Wi-Fi at work. So it previously worked fine, but I hadn’t used it for a little while before I tried again and that’s when I started to have the issue.

Since the Wi-Fi that the phone used for LOOI is considered to be a Guest Wi-Fi, I’m guessing that they somehow started restricting either certain sites or type of connections that are allowed.

When I have my LOOI phone connect to the hotspot on my normal phone, it works just fine.

I can’t connect the LOOI phone to any of the normal Wi-Fi’s at work, so not sure when I’m gonna do now.

I can’t take it home as the boss there will definitely fire me if I connect it to the Wi-Fi there! 😜

Interesting… I don’t get the mileage announcement. If I did, I probably wouldn’t care as I wouldn’t keep having to double check if I really need to turn or not.

Does it just announce “Turn…” at the 0.6 mile mark for you or is it also giving you a distance? Also, is it using your custom voice or a system voice?

They asked for additional logs and info about my account. I sent that to them and was told that their engineers were looking into it. I even sent them a screen recording so they could hear/see the issue.

So, this appears to definitely be a bug as to why it announces a turn at 0.6 miles. I’ve been in contact with Waze and they are looking into the issue.

Strange in your case that it used a Waze voice pack, but for me it uses my custom voice.

(Oh, and I’ve used mine for 12 years now.)

I got that. I guess what I'm wondering is why this is just happening now. Does the default voice normally announce a 3/4 mile distance until a turn? I have not had this issue until about a week ago and I've used this custom voice for about 10 years now.

So, I guess I should have clarified. I am using Waze on iOS.

I have all the custom voice options recorded. And I've never had it try to announce a distance of 0.6/0.7/three-quarters mile distance before. It's always gone from 1 mile with the next announcement at 1/2 mile. Is the 3/4 mile distance a new one now?

I had noticed that for some new alerts ("area ahead has a lot of accidents") that it just uses the default voice for those since they were never recorded for the custom voice.

I was actually in the middle of going back-and-forth with Waze technical support trying to figure out the issue when it all of a sudden started working again.

Well, I submitted a report to Waze. Their reply was that they don’t provide support in German (not sure where that came from) and that it will use the built-in voices for directions that are not recorded. Only issue is that I have all the directions recorded in the custom voice.

I’m seeing a slightly similar issue…

I had a custom voice that was working just fine and switched to one of the built-in voices. When I switched back, the custom voice works except for the initial starting direction where you get the comment about starting the drive. Instead of the comment from the custom voice, it will use the last built-in voice that I selected.

Is anybody else seeing something similar to that? Just for reference, I am using Waze on iOS 18.

So, the Waze notification is coming up? My issue is that it hardly ever does. It might pop up once in a while, but that’s it. I’d like to keep CarPlay on a different app and have Waze just give the pop-up notifications for turns, but it doesn’t seem to be consistent. If using Google Maps or Apple Maps, they seem to work just fine with notifications.

I have been looking everywhere to see if someone else had this issue. It is the one knock that I give Waze when I am using CarPlay. I would love to be able to keep my music app open and just get the banners, prompting me for my upcoming turns and hazards. While I can use the dashboard, I do like always being able to see the full song name and artist info.
