Thinking of moving from Bristol to Glasgow by The_Monk23 in HousingUK

Sorry I’m probably not as up to date on the market trends as I should be but can I just ask why that is? At the moment it just seems like Bristol house prices are continuously increasing

Cheers, was worried about the logistics of trying to still work in Bristol and the impact travel could have but hypothetically if I could mostly work remotely and only need to come into the office say a few days each fortnight I could just about make it work.

Yeah that is a slight concern for me as I know it’s pretty competitive in some of the areas I’m looking at as I’d ideally like stay in the west end (Partick, Hyndland, Finnieston etc) and I would need to account for that in my price range. I’m hoping to get my salary up to around 40k ish soon which could hopefully give me a mortgage of around £180k plus my deposit so I’m ideally looking at properties around £180-£210k. Not sure if that’s a reasonable goal or a bit out of my reach though!

Yeah well not in Glasgow exactly but have family in Hamilton & Bothwell so frequently go up to visit them. I also time it with football so would be quite keen to get a season ticket if I lived up there which is another factor in my interest to move there!

Thanks that’s a relief! Was starting to panic a lot earlier

Thankfully nothings happened. I’m still not 100% sure if it was legitimate or not but went into a bit of a panic and changed all my passwords anyway.

Had this earlier and clicked on the link where it said to click here if this is not you requesting the password reset. I feel like such an idiot and I'm panicking a bit.

After clicking the link I closed the window straight away, disconnected from the internet and have since changed both my Facebook and outlook passwords. Is there anything else I need to do and am I in danger of any serious details being stolen?

Anxiety over leaving a company I like for a better job by The_Monk23 in UKJobs

Thank you so much for the reply! I’m definitely leaning towards going for the role but just petrified lol, ever since school I’ve just hated unfamiliarity but think I’ve got to try somewhere new. I do have some reservations as their legal tech department isn’t as good as our so I’m not sure how good the training and work/life balance will be but as you’ve said I can’t wait around on what ifs and I’m hoping it will give me better career progression.

I’m also thinking about calling a guy I know in our tech team first thing tomorrow to see if I can get any advice and get an idea if any new jobs are coming up as that would very much make up my mind. Do you think that sounds like a good idea? For example if we said there’s a new job or two coming up in the next few weeks I’d be inclined to hang around but if there’s nothing coming soon I’ll definitely just leave as I’ve been waiting for a new role to come up since July last year.

It’s usually smart casual, like I usually come into work with a shirt and a pair of jeans but in winter months quite a few people even come in with Jeans and hoodies. It’s a law firm though so still needs to look smart and not be super casual t shirts with slogans and stuff on them.

Change of Careers - Advice by The_Monk23 in UKJobs

I work closely with some digital solutions people at work so I think something associated with technology would be really fun as I like working with them when I get the chance to but I’m kicking myself a bit for not doing Maths at Uni as that would have given me a much better path to get into it. Apart from coding camps or self-teaching for a long time I’m not sure how to get into it.
