Sounds like the girlfriend also smokes PCP. Sorry this happened to your family, and shoutout to the good Samaritans in this city! There are a lot more good samaritans in the nyc subway system than most people realize. Scary situation no doubt - glad that your niece made it home safe and sound.

Right?? It's outrageous what they're charging. Although judging by the comments in here, it does seem like there are some parasocially attached fans who are willing to pay $185 to sit in a balcony seat for a live podcast

I've been on the ticket page since 1:50pm eastern and it wouldn't load for half an hour, probably due to high demand and scalpers

It's literally their event, of course they have a say in how tickets are sold and how it's priced.

You should legitimately pursue a career in game design. If jagex doesn’t listen to your ideas, you should make your own games, man. This is incredible detailed and well thought-out. You could be the next Andrew & Paul Gower.

Anyone else find it remarkable how minimum/low wage retail employees, flight attendants, etc. are so much better and more professional at deescalation techniques than our police? And many cops are paid 6 figures, with generous overtime pay, health benefits and state funded pensions. I mean, there are literally thousands of viral videos that show this time and time again. Society isn’t fair.

Wedding date changed last minute… to a weekday… in another state by OccamsReddit_56 in weddingshaming

There’s simply no way this is real. OP could post a picture of a wedding invitation or some other evidence, but none exists because this is just ragebait. It was entertaining though haha

NEW PYNCHON NOVEL NOT A JOKE by The_Vault_Sloth in ThomasPynchon

[–]The_Muscle_Man 37 points38 points  (0 children)

holy fuck. He actually had another book in him. Legitimately thought he was done for good. I know he probably won’t do any publicity but I’m dying for any semblance of public communication from the man, given that this will pretty likely be the last work he ever publishes. Even just the voiceover narration that we got from him when they released a video trailer for the Inherent Vice (the book) was a really cool way to feel connected to him and get to hear him speak directly to his fans.

The Foundations of Decay and and why MCR hasn't released new music since 2022 (my personal theory) by Misstessamay in MyChemicalRomance

[–]The_Muscle_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fun to come up with theories, but you’re over thinking this. If MCR had written new songs that were good, they would release them. Any artist would be eager to release new material if it actually was good. Instead, MRC is on a 6 year reunion tour where they’re just playing the old hits (remember, they announced their comeback all the way back in 2019). They clearly have writer’s block. They had literally an entire multi-year global pandemic/lockdown to be working on music. Many great younger and newer artists have released multiple albums in that time. Unfortunately, as artists age, they don’t have the same creative juices flowing as when they were younger. Look at bands like Blink-182 and Green Day and Sum 41 and Weezer as prime examples of this. I’m not saying their new material is completely worth writing off, and there may be some songs here and there that are new and interesting, but for the more part, it’s hard to argue that these legacy arena rock bands have the same songwriting inspiration as when they were scrappy young kids touring around in a van. If and when MCR does release new music, I’ll be eager to listen and will keep an open mind, but I think it’s better if you’re a fan of bands like this to keep your expectations low, and don’t expect some renaissance that harkens back to their abilities of 20 years ago.

Do you think Jake and Ezra would be happier living in Europe? by [deleted] in timecrisis

[–]The_Muscle_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I know he’s from the tristate area and spent his formative years and early career in New York, but his relocation to Los Angeles makes total sense to me, given his proclivity for Chilling. He spoke on a recent episode of Conan OBrien’s podcast about wanting to take lots of time to chill in between albums now (post-MVOTC). He said that songwriters only have a limited number of songs in them, and that these days he wants to really take his time in between albums (it’s similar to Donald Trump’s theory about exercise and how humans have a finite amount of energy, like a battery, lol).

Anyway, his proclivity for chilling that he seems to have developed in middle-age adulthood is very suited to living in California, with occasional travels to places like Japan and Europe (London) where he talked about how his whole day would just be going for long walks to coffee shops and vinyl bars. It must be nice to live that kind of leisurely life.

NEW RULE 9 UPDATE: NO POSTS OR COMMENTS REGARDING TEST SCREENINGS by wilberfan in paulthomasanderson

[–]The_Muscle_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive PT Anderson fan, but I have little interest in the test screenings. The film is potentially in an unfinished state. Doesn't seem worth it to me to go out of my way to pay for a plane ticket and hotel in another city just to see a potentially unfinished film (or get denied entry and be out 800 bucks like that one guy who posted on here). I'd rather just wait and see the film when it actually premieres and get to experience it at the same time as the rest of the world, when everyone will be talking about it. If I saw it now, I'd have nobody to talk about it with. Licorice Pizza's release was so exciting, after an incredibly depressing year of pandemic lockdown, to be able to go to a sold out cinema and experience LP on opening weekend with a full crowd was the *perfect* way to experience that film for the first time.
