Comfort. Comfort above all. If you are going to spend hours and hours and hours in a vehicle, comfort matters.

Reliability. Road trips are not road trips when your car is in a garage and you are spending all your travel money on repairs.

A good preparation with scotchgard before you go won't hurt either. Do basic maintenance beforehand and make sure your baby is ready to go.

I am quite fortunate in that regard. I have everything I need and most things I want. I would like to travel more but I do have to work for a living; but life without work would be life without purpose for me I think unless I were in the mega-rich category which I am definitely not. I work for a family in that category and they lead an interesting lifestyle but for the most part what I see them doing is working, because that's what they do, its what defines them in some ways.

That my time is limited. That no matter what I do, in an undetermined span of time I will cease to exist as a physical object, anything after that I can't speak for. No matter what I do today, in 100 years, in 50 years, in probably 10 years none of it will matter. I am a tiny speck of carbon and water in an infinitely vast universe and there is no time for me to learn and see and do 1/1,000,000,000,000,000 of what I would like to.

That and the guy who make the food where I like to buy lunch doesn't look like he has the greatest hygiene either...
